Anecdotal stories you haven't heard

In ancient times, there was a person who went to the capital to participate in a scientific expedition, and on the way to the examination, he met a Taoist person, and he did not expect that his life had changed direction since then.

This man's name was Zhou Shiqing, a native of today's Nanping territory in Fujian Province, who had a good academic performance, and in 1086, when Song Zhezong was in power, the imperial court was recruiting a large number of talented people. Zhou Shiqing was one of the people who passed the local examination and went to the Beijing Division to take the examination.

Unexpectedly, on the way to the Beijing Master to catch the examination, I met a Taoist monk, and the Taoist priest saw that he had a wind bone, so the two chatted for a long time, and the conversation was particularly speculative. The words that the Daoist priest said to him made Zhou Shiqing feel very touched in his heart, and even the Daoist priest was fascinated by the cultivation techniques he said. So he decided to give up the opportunity to go to the Beijing Division to pursue the meritorious name, hurried back to his hometown, and then took his children and wife, moved to a local mountain called Yugoshan, and lived in seclusion, indulging in the practice of Danshu every day.

Over time, the fame spread out, and the people of the four miles and eight townships, especially those local officials and intellectuals with prestige and status, especially admired Zhou Shiqing, and as long as they passed by here, they had to stop and go up the mountain to visit him, and by the way, they could also ask for dan medicine.

One of them, a magistrate named Lu Jifu, was preparing to take up his post from Fujian to Xuanzhou, Anhui, because he had been walking, and his foot hurt and he couldn't walk. I heard about Zhou Shiqing, so I took a detour to visit him. Zhou Shiqing asked Lu Jifu to stretch out his feet, and then he added a spell to cloth qi, and then let people slap his feet with a fan, and after a while, Lu Jifu felt that the underside of his feet was as hot as fire. The hot piercing heart, after a long time did not burn, and when he was hot, his feet did not hurt anymore.

Zhou Shiqing had been practicing Dan Yao on the mountain for more than twenty years. Once, when the elixir he was practicing was about to be refined, suddenly one night, he saw a fierce wind blowing wildly, lightning and thunder, and it felt like the whole mountain was shaking. This lasted one night. After dawn the next day, Zhou Shiqing opened the alchemy furnace and looked at it, but found that the refined elixir was gone.

Zhou Shiqing did not expect such a result, so he wanted to cast a spell to "out of the blue", trying to find the answer to why the elixir was missing.

Before casting the spell, Zhou Shiqing first explained to his wife: "I am ready to cast a spell to find the elixir, but this time if I am 'out of my mind', it will take almost seven days to come back, but you must remember that I am not dead." Remember not to incinerate my body. The wife listened to Zhou Shiqing's admonition and nodded her head in agreement.

By the sixth day, there used to be a monk who had a very close relationship with Zhou Shiqing and had a very good relationship. The monk was practicing on another hill nearby, and he heard that Zhou Shiqing was dead, so he ran to mourn. Seeing Zhou Shiqing's body lying in the Dao Room, he tried his best to persuade Zhou's wife: You see that your husband is a cultivator, and his body is not important to him, since he has already left, he should be cremated.

Because the wife knew that the monk was her husband's friend, the wife believed the monk's words and cried and burned Zhou Shiqing's body. The next day, when Zhou Shiqing (the soul) returned, he found that his body had been burned away, the soul could not be attached to the body, and he could not be reborn.

His sad and frightened voice echoed for a long time over Yugo Mountain, scolding his wife's voice, even people passing under the mountain could listen, and after a while there was no way but to leave.

A few days later, the monk came again, and Zhou Shiqing's wife told the monk about "her husband Zhou Shiqing (soul) has returned." Unexpectedly, the monk said, "I haven't been here, I just heard the news of Brother Zhou's death, so I rushed over!" At this time, Zhou's wife understood that the monks who had come before were originally incarnated by demons.

The Zhou family later enshrined Zhou Shiqing's portrait in a monastery. Every day, a walker is assigned to serve the incense. And as long as the rotating walkers who go to worship incense will pick up four pieces of silver on the ground every day;

The Zhou family still retains a jar of vinegar brewed by Zhou Shiqing when he was alive, which has been left for many years and has not been broken so far. During this period, many people from around the neighborhood will come to the Zhou family to get vinegar, but no matter how many people come to take it, no matter how much they take, the vinegar in the urn has always been there, and how to take it cannot be taken.

Liu Xiang, a local, said: "From this place of Guoshan, you see its mountain shape, the space is too shallow, the weather is so obvious, it is not a suitable place for gods to live." This matter was also passed down by Liu Xiang.
