Dai Peiyuan, a native of Renqiu, Hebei, graduated from Baoding Yude Middle School in 1922 and was later admitted to the Department of Agriculture of Hebei University. During his time at the school, he often organized progressive groups such as civilian schools and new cultural drama clubs to resist the persecution of students by the warlords of his immediate lineage, and was retaliated by the authorities and had to withdraw from school half a year before graduation. Later, he participated in the leftist activities of the Kuomintang and directed the popular movement. In 1925, he was ordered by the All-China Railway Federation of Trade Unions to serve as the secretary of the Zhengtai Railway Federation of Trade Unions in Shijiazhuang and launched a workers' movement. For this reason, the warlord attempted to kill him. Under the protection of the workers, he sneaked to Beiping.
At that time, the Second National Army was stationed in Henan, and peasants in various counties extensively established the "Red Gun Society" organization. The Northern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee sent Dai Peiyuan to Henan to carry out the peasant movement, use and transform the Red Gun Society, and develop the peasant movement. Together with Xiao Renhu and Hu Lun, he overcame all kinds of difficulties and walked on foot to various villages and towns and went deep into peasant families. Within a few days, peasant associations were organized in 68 villages in the seven districts. Through their work, most of the peasants left the Red Gun Society and moved to the farmers' association, which soon grew to 15,000 members.
The rapid development of peasant associations has aroused extreme hatred among the reactionaries. In the name of organizing a meeting of the Red Gun Society, the local gentry invited Dai Peiyuan to attend the meeting in an attempt to kill him. One day, Dai Peiyuan received an "invitation" inviting him to attend a meeting at the "Zhang family ancestral hall" of the water mill.
Dai Peiyuan took the "invitation" and signed the four words "on schedule" on it without hesitation.
Several members of the peasant association came forward to dissuade him, reminding him not to fall into the hands of the enemy. Dai Peiyuan immediately said with a straight face: "We want to hold a meeting and can't gather people, they have gathered so many people for us, why don't we go and participate?" ”
The Farmers' Association sent more than 30 people to escort Dai Peiyuan from Liu Huyuan to the "Zhang family ancestral hall" in Shuimo Village. At the meeting, Dai Peiyuan made a generous statement: "Instead of inciting the people to rebel, the Communist Party has launched a revolution among the peasants, to get rid of the harsh taxes and miscellaneous taxes and fees that have been pressed on the peasants, and to get rid of the heavy profit exploitation of the landlords and gentry." The peasants must be organized and be the masters of their homes, and we must practice that the cultivators have their own land..."
Dai Peiyuan's speech reached the hearts of the vast number of peasants, and his speech was constantly interrupted by deafening applause, which inspired people's hearts and inspired the people. Faced with the fearless courage of the Communists, in the face of the powerful cries of the people, the inferior gentry were speechless and sneaked away.
During his work in Xingyang, Dai Peiyuan was sent to Longhu Cave in Mixian County for recuperation due to fatigue day and night and sudden hemoptysis. Later, due to changes in the situation, Dai Peiyuan transferred to Luoyang to work. After Wu Peifu occupied Luoyang, the inferior gentry colluded with the local Red Gun Society and killed Dai Peiyuan on March 4, 1926.
