The data shows that in March, independent brands maintained a leading position in the SUV market, and won the top five in the SUV sales ranking of automobile manufacturers. Among them, Changan Automobile has obvious advantages, and won the first place in the sales of car companies' SUVs with sales of 89,376 units, an increase of 7.4% year-on-year. Among them, Changan C775 sold 23302 vehicles, Changan CS55 sold 17849 vehicles, Changan Auchan X5 sold 12812 vehicles, and Changan CS35 sold 10186 vehicles.
Great Wall Motors ranked second, with SUV sales of 68,211 units, down 9.9% year-on-year. In the past two years, Great Wall Motors has launched many new SUV models, such as Haval First Love, Haval Big Dog, Tank 300, Haval Divine Beast, Haval Red Rabbit, Wei brand latte, Wei brand Macchiato, etc., of which Haval big dog, tank 300 sales are good, other models can only be said to be decent. The decline in sales in March was mainly due to the unsatisfactory sales of the Haval H6, with only 21,633 units, down 38.0% from 34,865 units in the same period last year.
BYD ranked third, with SUV sales reaching 49,235 units, up 2.5 times year-on-year. Among them, BYD Song New Energy sold 26,729 vehicles, BYD Yuan PLUS sold 10,025 vehicles, and BYD Tang New Energy sold 9,625 vehicles.
Geely Automobile followed in fourth place, with 49,232 SUVs sold, compared to BYD, which sold only 3 cars less. Geely's SUV sales mainly come from Binyue and Boyue Xingyue L, of which Binyue sold 13,068 vehicles, Xingyue L sold 11,049 vehicles, and Boyue sold 10,074 vehicles.
Chery Automobile and Dongfeng Honda's SUV sales are not much different, Chery Automobile ranked fifth with SUV sales of 43,923 units, down 12.7% year-on-year; Dongfeng Honda SUV sales of 43,202 units, ranking sixth, down 25.4% year-on-year.
Although there is only one SUV model, Tesla's SUV sales in China still reach 39,790 units, ranking seventh. GAC Toyota followed suit, selling 35,899 SUVs in March, ranking eighth, up 58.9% year-on-year.
Volkswagen brand SUV sales declined, of which SAIC Volkswagen SUV sales of 34,970 units, ranked ninth, down 13.3% year-on-year; FAW-Volkswagen SUV sales of 25,448 units, ranking twelfth, down 30.2% year-on-year.
In addition to Tesla, sales of other mainstream luxury brands SUV declined. Among them, BMW Brilliance sold 18,627 SUV units, ranking fourteenth, down 25.2% year-on-year; Beijing Benz SUV sales of 16,955 units, ranking sixteenth, down 31.2% year-on-year; FAW-Volkswagen Audi SUV sales of 14,447 units, only ranked eighteenth, down 51.3% year-on-year.
Other automakers with better SUV sales in March were: Guangqi Honda SUV sales of 34,787 units, ranking tenth, down 10.2% year-on-year; SAIC Motor SUV sales of 27,939 units, an increase of 12.8%: FAW Toyota SUV sales of 25,219 units, down 7.3% year-on-year.
