China's auto exports soared 170%, and Great Wall's sales exceeded BYD's sales by 1.3 times

The online car market learned from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers that in April 2023, automobile companies exported 376,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.7 times, and from January to April 2023, automobile companies exported 1.37 million units, a year-on-year increase of 89.2%. Among them, Great Wall Motor exported 74,000 units, nearly 1.3 times that of BYD.

According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs, China's exports of automobiles in the first four months of this year reached 204.53 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 120.3%. Based on this calculation, the average export price of bicycles exceeded RMB 149,000.

From January to April, among the top 10 vehicle exporters, BYD exported 58,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.4 times, Chery exported 244,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.9 times, and Great Wall exported 74,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 99.1%.

Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the National Passenger Vehicle Market Information Association, said that compared with the gradual recovery of domestic automobile sales, the performance of the export market is still super. The main driving force this year is still the improvement of the competitiveness of Chinese products and the breakthrough of the European and American markets, and the international brands in the Russian market under the Russia-Ukraine crisis are completely replaced by Chinese cars, especially the huge export increase brought about by the improvement of China's new energy export competitiveness.
