Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, had a total of 22 concubines in his lifetime, but only Empress Ma favored the harem, and was highly praised by Zhu Yuanzhang and his descendants. The story of Empress Ma sitting on the dragon chair comes from a wild history of miscellaneous conversations, and later generations have filmed it, but it is only to highlight Empress Ma's exclusive favor and Zhu Yuanzhang's preference for her.
Of course, the historical Empress Ma did gain the respect of Zhu Yuanzhang, but she would not exceed the rules so much, but scrupulously abide by her duties and retreat properly. Although it is said that they are married as husband and wife, there is no doubt about love and love, but since the ancient ruthless imperial family, once a person occupies a high position, it is inevitable that there will be an ending of "Wanwan Qing" and "Lan YinXiuguo", so there is no ambition of Wu Zetian, nor the wrist of filial piety, and even the appearance of the mediocre Empress Ma, how did she capture the emperor's heart?
All this has to start with Zhu Yuanzhang starting a bowl. At noon on the eighteenth day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar in 1328, at the home of Zhu Wusi, a farmer in Fengyang County, Anhui Province, a thunderbolt sounded in the sky, and Chen gave birth to the leader of an epic drama.
But all the emperors born in history are all visions in heaven, and there must be some extraordinary deeds, so when the History of Ming records this moment, it deliberately mentions that "Chen Shi, the dream god gave a pill, put the light in the palm of his hand, swallowed it, and the aroma remained in his mouth." And the birth, the red light filled the room, the neighbors saw it, and they were amazed by the fire! ”
However, such a strange picture did not make Zhu Wusi feel relieved, but the old two seemed worried. The Zhu family, which already has four children, is already extremely poor and can no longer be extremely poor, and now that they have added Ding imports, one more mouth means one more bowl of rice.
At that time, the Yuan Dynasty was extremely corrupt and in decline, and the conquerors from Mongolia did not consider the poverty of the people at all, and they were bound to be exploited wherever they could handle from taxation to servitude, and the peasants, even if they did their hard work, would eventually be left with only a skeleton. The old Zhu family lived in a thatched hut that leaked wind everywhere, as recorded in the Records of Ming Taizu, at that time, Zhu Yuanzhang's family had reached the point of "taking the grass and cooking the rice".
Who knew that in 1343, there was a drought in Haozhou, and a serious locust plague and plague occurred in the following spring, Zhu Yuanzhang's parents and eldest brother died one after another, and there was no money to bury, fortunately, the neighbor Liu Jizu lent them a cemetery, and Zhu Yuanzhang swept the corpse with grass and buried his relatives.
Probably because he had been drenched in rain, the later Zhu Yuanzhang was particularly sympathetic to the peasants, and he also cherished the affection of being able to send charcoal in the snow. During Zhu Yuanzhang's reign, he ordered the peasants to return to farming, rewarded the reclamation of the land, liberated the slaves, and reduced the tax burden, and Liu Jizu, who was a cemetery of alms, also blessed his descendants because of this kindness. The "Wan Liye Harvest Compilation" records that Zhu Yuanzhang, in order to repay Liu Jizu, "gave hou to hou and gave his wife Lou Shi as lady hou", and his descendants were hereditary.
This catastrophe caused a huge impact on Zhu Yuanzhang, the whole person began to become silent, half a year later, the desperate Zhu Yuanzhang came to the Huangjue Temple to make a living, but the situation was turbulent, everyone was in danger, even the temple was not spared. In less than 50 days at the Huangjue Temple, Zhu Yuanzhang was still hungry and unclothed, so several monks held a meeting to eat a scattered meal, and one of them took a broken bowl and traveled around to fend for himself.
At this time, Zhu Yuanzhang understood that in order to survive, he must make a decision on the spot, either to ask for food or to be a thief, no matter what he did, he had to be open-minded. He wanted to eat for three years to taste the white eyes and ridicule, and these three years also made him realize that the human world had become a purgatory, the Buddha could no longer purify sentient beings, and he had to make a name for himself. So in 1352, the 25-year-old Zhu Yuanzhang picked up a butcher knife and ran to Guo Zixing, a local tycoon in Dingyuan, and embarked on a revolutionary career, and also met Ma Xiuying, a rare virtuous wife in the world.
Empress Ma was born in a good family, only because her father Ma Gong often helped others to help the poor and poor, and the family became increasingly poor. Ma Gong and Guo Zixing were friends with each other, and before he died, he entrusted his daughter to Guo Zixing's care, not to ask his son-in-law to be rich and noble, but only to be a person with a heart of heaven and earth, good and righteous.
Guo Zixing looked at Zhu Yuanzhang, who had a clear skeleton, and realized that this person would become a great instrument in the future, so he took the initiative to marry his adopted daughter Ma Shi to him. This year, Ma was only 20 years old. After becoming a family, Zhu Yuanzhang was invincible, and in the fourteenth year of Zhizheng, he made a great contribution to the capture of Chuzhou, and Guo Zixing became more and more important to him.
However, this Guo Zixing was grumpy, jealous of shortness, and the ear roots were soft, it was easy to be rumored, at that time, his two sons were a little unwilling to see people with foreign surnames being favored, so they repeatedly provoked the relationship between Zhu Yuanzhang and Guo Zixing, once, Guo Zixing was angry, and directly locked Zhu Yuanzhang in a small black house and did not give food.
After Ma Shi heard about it, "stealing cooking cakes, carrying in, and scorching meat" stole cooking cakes from the kitchen to fill Zhu Yuanzhang's hunger, because he was afraid of being discovered, and burned his chest raw. Such a life-saving grace is a mixture of feelings in Zhu Yuanzhang's heart. It is often said that Taoists have virtuous wives, better than Liangtian Wanqing, and Zhu Yuanzhang felt the warmth of a long absence in Ma's body.
In the first month of the first year of Hongwu's reign, Zhu Yuanzhang, who was crowned empress after the throne, made Ma shi empress, and was to be knighted as an official of Empress Ma's relatives. Empress Ma earnestly persuaded the emperor: "Fame and fortune should not be given to our family because of private feelings, you should be fair and strict, how many examples of foreign relations dictatorship in history, we should learn a lesson." You and I are both from poor backgrounds, and now that we are rich and noble, we should remember that the danger began in the subtle. ”
Zhu Yuanzhang was grateful to Empress Ma for trusting her even more. Zhu Yuanzhang once heard that Guo Jingxiang's son was suspected of rebellion, so he killed his heart several times, but fortunately Empress Ma dissuaded him in time: "Hearing is false, the Guo family has a son, and it is absolutely impossible to be hasty." Later, the inquiry was indeed a figment, and Zhu Yuanzhang was relieved and more grateful to Empress Ma for her reasoning and wisdom.
Zhu Yuanzhang's preference for Empress Ma came partly from his indelible gratitude, and partly because Empress Ma's pattern and vision impressed him. In the fifteenth year of Hongwu, Empress Ma died of illness, and Zhu Yuanzhang sighed in grief: "The good wife of the family and the good face of the country of Judah, can not bear to forget it." ”
Zhu Yuanzhang has not been established since then.
