The winter vacation is approaching, and the Ministry of Education has sent a letter to the parents of primary and secondary school students across the country

Dear Parents and Friends,

In 2021, China's basic education has undergone new changes and shown a new look! In the past year, we have worked together with parents to raise their children and made new progress, they have grown taller and improved, and their faces are full of happy and confident smiles. We would like to express our sincere thanks to you for your understanding and support of education!

The Party Central Committee and the State Council attach great importance to the healthy growth of young people, and specially deploy the "double reduction" work, we have the confidence and determination to continue to help children draw a better future with you. Winter vacation is approaching, how to let children spend a healthy, positive, fulfilling and happy holiday? Here we recommend that you do three "follows".

Focus on autonomous development. Holidays are an important stage for children to rest and adjust and develop independently. I hope that you can respect the scientific laws of children's growth, do not use the holiday as a semester, and give children time and space to think blankly and innovate and explore. It is recommended that at the beginning of the holiday, under the premise of complying with the requirements of epidemic prevention, combined with the school winter vacation arrangement, discuss with your children to formulate a scientific and reasonable winter vacation plan to cultivate your children's self-management and self-development capabilities.

Pay attention to parent-child companionship. The holidays are the best time for parents to get in touch with their children and grow together. I hope you can give your child loving companionship and do not replace parent-child time with school tuition. It is recommended that you communicate with your children more, talk about life, talk about growth, talk about hobbies, really understand the spiritual needs of children, and be your child's friends and role models. Encourage children's progress with a good eye for discovery, and give children a sense of security, trust and happiness.

Focus on physical and mental health. Holidays are a critical period for children to develop interests and understand society. We hope that you will put your child's all-round development first and do not replace holiday activities with subject learning. It is recommended that you encourage children to read widely, exercise their bodies, cultivate interests, inherit culture, filial piety and respect for the elderly, and practice labor, so as to cultivate comprehensive literacy, strong physique and healthy personality that will benefit children for life. It is also recommended that you work with your child to develop a "Convention on the Use of Household Electronics" to control the length of time and access the Internet healthily.

Parents and friends, life is like a long run, start to avoid sprinting, thin hair needs to be thick. Children's core competitiveness cannot be formed by cramming, nor can it be indoctrinated. This year, the Family Education Promotion Law has been fully implemented, and it is our common responsibility to promote the healthy growth of children. We must jointly grasp the timing and rhythm of educating people, and the parent-school community will work together to respect children, care for children, and help children grow into talents!
