In the current wave of new energy vehicle price increases, the president of Weilai Automobile recently responded on its social platform: Weilai will not increase prices.
Logically, under the pressure of rising raw material costs, Weilai Automobile is also facing the risk and pressure of rising costs, but this time Weilai Automobile did not choose to follow the trend and increase prices. The reason for this may be related to the current situation that Weilai Automobile is currently somewhat left behind in the head echelon. In fact, since 2021, Weilai Automobile has experienced a decline in sales due to many reasons such as repeated epidemics, chip shortages, and capacity expansion.
In February this year, under the impact of Nezha Automobile, Weilai also fell out of the top three of the new forces. Therefore, in the first round of price increases brought about by the subsidy decline in January this year, Weilai Automobile also said that there was no price increase plan for the time being. Compared with BYD DM-i, although the price positioning of Macchiato DHT-PHEV is high, the sense of quality and configuration are relatively more obvious and rich. At present, the price of BYD Song PLUS DM-i has been adjusted to 152,800-20.58 million yuan, which is not much different from the price of Macchiato DHT-PHEV. Therefore, based on this judgment, Macchiato DHT-PHEV may also be expected to further usher in higher sales performance because of the cost-effective advantage.
