In Africa, I feel that the locals have always lacked a sense of gratitude, and here is a story I have personally experienced, which I will share with you.
My country is Nigeria, a business trip to Abuja, the client arranged in one of their apartments, surrounded by local villagers, there is a child here, about ten years old, like to play football, so I often call him c Luo.
C Luo's father died a long time ago, the eldest in the family, and three younger brothers and two younger sisters. Such families are common in Africa because they comment that the life expectancy is only about fifty years.
There are many brothers and sisters, the burden of the family falls on the mother, as the eldest son, Luo Luo naturally cannot be alone, often helping his mother to take care of his brother and sister.
My mother was in the camp and her main job was cleaning. Often fry some peanut rice and let C Luo take it to the camp to sell.
In such a barren land, it is a luxury to have peanuts and rice to eat, because I am not used to eating local food, so peanut rice is my favorite in that place, and I have become Ronaldo's biggest customer.
I like this child very much, so I often let C Luo run a leg, buy some daily necessities, and tip him every time, which is a good source of income for children of the same age.
C Luo also often helps me to clean, wash clothes and the like. I tip him more or less every time. This child knows how to live a good life, and every time he tips his mother, I am still very touched by this.
C Luo went to school far away, almost every day at four o'clock to get up to go to school, and then run more than a dozen miles. In the morning, at noon, there is almost no meal, and such a scene is normal in the local area. After school, Luo would always run to my apartment, sell peanuts and rice, and then clean and wash clothes. I don't treat other people's children badly, and I will give him some drinks and bread tips.
When the work was done, I took him to a local restaurant for dinner. Ordered some beef, lamb, and the child ate it with great pleasure. To be honest, I was too accustomed to eating, and I was upset almost every day. Every time the meal was basically cleaned by C Luo, and finally packed a few points for a few younger brothers and sisters, of course, the money was naturally paid by me.
C Luo has always been envious of those children who have mobile phones, in their class, there is a child, holding a broken second-hand elderly machine every day, and often hissing. C Luo is not used to it, he said, I am a Chinese friend, everyone is a smart phone, Huawei brand, a little out of the picture.
I also laughed and laughed, so I gave my mobile phone to this child to play. This kid is very smart and will learn as soon as he learns. I thought to myself, anyway, in Africa mobile phones are not very expensive, so I took this child to the nearby market and bought a transsion mobile phone, which is almost invisible in China, and it is also a domestic brand, which is very popular in Africa, and it is also a smart phone. It cost about 45,000 naira, and the synthetic yuan is 500 yuan. That's almost two months of their income.
This kid was happy and broken, almost every day to hold, but never saw him play, he said he didn't have money to buy a card, no money to rush the traffic, I gave him another 9,000 naira to buy a card, and charged the traffic.
But the next thing, I was chilled.
Ronaldo still went to my place as usual to clean up and wash his clothes. Since I bought a mobile phone and almost gave the child all the money in my hand, there was almost no naira on hand, and I didn't have time to go to the city bank to exchange it, so I didn't give him a few times to spend, so I took him to dinner a few times.
Seeing that I was finished on a business trip and was preparing to pack my bags and return to Lagos, the boy ran up to me and said that I owed him a few days of labor costs, that he had worked hard these days, and that I had not yet given him money.
After I listened, I stayed directly, and even more was the chill. I thought to myself, how can this nation be like this, to be a human being, at least there is no sense of gratitude.
I gave him the little naira I had in my bag, and before I left, I made a point of telling him not to say that we were friends in the future. The Chinese nation is a grateful nation.
He also saw that I was not happy and left in a huff.
