New energy vehicle sales are expected to exceed 10 million Taking stock of the 2022 ambitions of various car companies

The first Monday of 2022 is the time to look forward to the new year.

Although only a few car companies have released their annual sales targets for 2022, from the previous various press conferences, the bold words that have been said can already glimpse the ambitions of various car companies in 2022.

From the perspective of the entire industry, a number of professional forecasting agencies predict that in 2022, the global sales of new energy vehicles are expected to exceed 10 million.

Of course, this also depends on the encouragement policies of various countries for new energy vehicles, as well as the accelerated supply of upstream raw materials, as well as the midstream technology drive and battery supply.

This, from the situation of "lack of core" this year, can see the impact of these on sales.

Speaking of returning to China, although the annual target for 2022 has not yet been "officially announced", in these two years, various car companies have rushed to release a "long-term plan": sales in 2025.

Now let's take stock of the "cows" that various new energy vehicle companies have blown out with blowers.

For example, Dongfeng Motor.

In April this year, Dongfeng Motor launched the "Dongfang Fengqi" plan and launched the "Leapfrog Action" focusing on new energy and intelligent driving, in which Dongfeng Motor planned that by 2025, the sales of new energy vehicles would reach 1 million, and the sales of new energy vehicles would account for 20% of the total sales.

Or Great Wall Motors, which is known for its bold speech.

In June this year, Great Wall Motor announced that by 2025, Great Wall Motor will achieve operating income of more than 600 billion yuan and global annual sales of 4 million vehicles, of which 80% will be new energy vehicles (that is, 3.2 million units). According to incomplete statistics this year, Great Wall Motor's total annual sales volume is about 1.1 million units, of which the sales volume of new energy vehicles in the first 11 months of this year was 114,000 units.

In May 2021, Great Wall also released sales forecasts, and sales in 2022 are expected to be 1.9 million units.

With the popularity of new energy vehicles, some car companies have quietly mentioned their goals because of the "reality".

After GAC launched the GAC Aeon S, the market also gave the car recognition with sales.

In November 2020, GAC motor once said that by 2025, GAC will strive to produce and sell 3.5 million vehicles, and new energy vehicle products will account for more than 20% of the total vehicle production and sales scale; and by September 2021, GAC motor will raise its expectations for new energy vehicle sales, and the proportion of new energy vehicle sales will increase to more than 25%.

Of course, not all car companies are so optimistic.

On October 31 this year, Geely Automobile released the "Smart Geely 2025" strategy, and the sales of new energy products will reach 900,000 vehicles, plus the Extreme Kr brand, accounting for more than 40% of the overall proportion.

Six years ago, Geely's plan was that new energy products would account for 60%.

In addition to these traditional players, the new forces also have their own ambitions, such as Li Xiang once said in the internal letter of Ideal Car that the ideal goal is to achieve annual sales of 1.6 million vehicles by 2025.

He Xiaopeng also euphemistically said that in 2025, it will seize 10% of the market share, that is, about 1.05 million vehicles delivered.

Zero-run cars and Nezha cars have also said their targets for 2025, respectively, 800,000 and 400,000-500,000 vehicles, respectively.

Even Evergrande Automobile, which is in turmoil, has said that in 2025, the total sales volume will exceed 1 million, which is about 250,000 vehicles per year according to the average calculation.

As an aside, after taking stock of the "grand goals" of these car companies, it is only these mainstream car companies that have an annual sales target of more than 40 million vehicles in 2025.

In fact, the industry's recognized forecast sales are 30 million vehicles in 2025.

In other words, there are always people who "forget" the bull they bragged about because they can't achieve their goals.

Of course, there are also car companies that have announced their "New Year's plans" in advance because of good sales.

For example, BYD.

In the first 11 months of 2021, BYD's new energy models have sold more than 500,000 vehicles, with a market share of 17.8%, far exceeding saic-GM-Wuling and Tesla China, which ranked second and third.

Therefore, before the end of the year, BYD revealed its sales target for 2022: between 1.1 million and 1.2 million vehicles. Among them, BEV (pure electric) 600,000 vehicles, PHEV (plug-in hybrid) 500,000-600,000 vehicles.

There are also some car-making bigwigs who have not announced new energy vehicles separately.

Chery also released its own "25th Anniversary of Entrepreneurship" development plan, declaring that the goal for 2022 is to sell 1.5 million vehicles per year and strive for 2 million vehicles, although it has not announced a separate sales target for new energy vehicles, but according to the situation this year, it plans to sell 1 million vehicles this year, of which Chery New Energy has sold 89,000 vehicles in 11 months. According to the simplest calculation, Chery's sales of new energy should be at least 150,000 vehicles.

In addition, FAW-Volkswagen Audi announced its total sales target of 800,000 vehicles, Dongfeng Group 4 million vehicles, and GAC Group 2.43 million vehicles.

Of course, although these car companies are laying out the new energy market, according to the current state, more sales pressure is still on fuel vehicles.

Another prediction is that the sales of new energy passenger cars will grow rapidly in 2021, and in 2022, new energy vehicles will maintain rapid growth, and the overall sales of new energy passenger cars will be about 5 million.

In 2021, the total output of new energy vehicles in China will exceed 3 million, and the sales volume will be close to 3 million, that is, next year's sales, which can theoretically be doubled, which is probably the reason why various car companies have the courage to announce their goals.

Judging from the December sales announced so far, Xiaopeng Automobile still "suppressed" the ideal with the advantage of nearly 2,000 vehicles in December, and also became the delivery champion of the new forces of the year, with a total of 98,155 delivered, Weilai Automobile delivered a total of 91,429 vehicles, and ideal cars 90,491 vehicles.

The top three are significantly ahead of the fourth place Nezha Car by more than 20,000 vehicles.

The krypton cars that Geely has given high hopes will start delivering in November and deliver 3,796 vehicles in December, and you can also look forward to the krypton cars in 2022.

This is good news for China's own brands.

On the whole, in addition to Tesla ranking third, the top ten are all Chinese brands, and after a hundred years of foreign automotive industry leadership, Chinese car companies, or China's new energy vehicles, have ushered in the opportunity to overtake in curves.

Of course, we will not forget that the current new energy vehicles cannot be regarded as a very mature and safe product.

Charging spontaneous combustion, assisted driving failure, or other vehicle problems, such as chip goods are not in the right version, are all "new problems" that previous owners, including car companies, have not encountered.

The problem of battery life, the incompleteness of charging facilities, the unfamiliarity with smart cockpits and intelligent driving, and even the doubts about safety have become obstacles for car owners to buy new energy vehicles.

The road ahead is bright, whether it can go steadily depends on how the car companies will go in 2022.
