The vast majority of brands announced that they will start selling fuel vehicles between 2025 and 2030. However, recently, BYD announced that it will officially stop producing fuel vehicles from March and will focus on pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in the future.
This means that BYD has become the world's first brand to discontinue fuel vehicles, and because it does not have light hybrid and oil-electric hybrid products, BYD is also the first traditional brand to sell only pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Others will not sell pure oil vehicles after a few years, and BYD will now directly only sell new energy vehicles with green cards!
Of course, BYD said it will continue to provide perfect services and after-sales guarantees for existing oil vehicle users, as well as the supply of spare parts for the whole life cycle of vehicles. That is to say, now buy BYD's oil trucks, even if they are driven to scrap, they are not afraid of no parts repair, which can be assured.
BYD's suspension of production of fuel vehicles may be relatively sudden for the industry, but in fact, it has long planned, just waiting for a suitable time.
BYD itself is a battery starter, the manufacture of electric and hybrid vehicles is the best project, but at the beginning of 2003, new energy is not a major trend.
However, BYD has always insisted on the exploration of this field, and the emergence of F3DM, e6, Denza, etc. has also made BYD the first brand to enter new energy in China.
From the development of e-platform 1.0 to today's Dolphin 3.0, last year's DM dual-mode power was also divided into DM-p and DM-i, coupled with the explosion of technologies such as blade batteries, so that the sales of BYD's new energy vehicles began to grow significantly in the second half of 2021.

In the face of the surge in sales of new energy vehicles, BYD's cumulative undelivered orders have reached 400,000 units, and with the release of more new vehicles in the future, it is imperative to solve the lack of production capacity.
Therefore, BYD simply stopped the production of fuel vehicles and made way for new energy vehicles, and at the same time, 5 new factories will be put into use this year, counting the existing 3, 8 factories are expected to have a production capacity of 3-3.5 million. This is more than enough for the production and sales of 2 million vehicles expected this year.
Although it is only a matter of time before the production of oil vehicles is stopped, it does take courage to be at least 3 years ahead of others, not to mention that BYD only sells pure electric and plug-in hybrid models with relatively higher costs, and directly skips light mixing and oil-electric hybrids.
In order to prepare for the suspension of fuel vehicles, BYD has changed the original fuel models to electric drives in recent years, such as the Yuan Pro and e5, etc., and only provides DM-i plug-in hybrids on the new destroyer 05 of the warship series.
At present, the fuel version of the Dynasty series is also in the inventory state of discontinuation and sale, including Song PLUS, Song Pro, Song MAX, F3 and so on. It is understood that some dealers already have a small preferential margin of 10,000 yuan, and friends who want to pick up leaks may wish to understand it.
BYD cut these fuel versions of the model, we can only buy DM and EV models in the future, which also means that its entry threshold will become higher.
Taking Song PLUS 1.5T (11.58-14.38 million) and Song PLUS DM-i (15.28-17.58 million) as examples, now if you want to buy Song PLUS, you can only start from 152,800 yuan of DM-i models.
That is to say, BYD will lose some beginner users, of course, from the March DM model year-on-year growth of 615.2% can be seen that it is quite popular. Even Han, which is priced in the range of 200,000-300,000, is not inferior in sales to traditional BBA opponents such as the BMW 5 Series.
Therefore, the market is acceptable to the price increase brought about by the technical improvement of BYD products, not to mention the hybrid models of the same level compared with the joint venture brand.
For example, Qin PLUS DM-i (11.18-15.18 million) compared to Toyota Corolla Twin Engine (13.58-15.98 million), the price of the former is undoubtedly more advantageous.
However, DM needs to be charged to fully exert its advantages compared with light hybrid and oil-electric hybrid models, that is, there must be charging piles in the home parking space, which puts forward higher requirements for the car conditions of many users.
Although the DM model can be charged by the engine, if there is no charging pile, the use experience is still not as good as the light hybrid and the oil-electric hybrid.
SINCE THEN, BYD has embarked on a comprehensive new energy route, and the new power brand will become its competitor in the future. For example, the upcoming seals of the Marine Life series are aimed at benchmarks such as the Tesla Model 3 and the Xiaopeng P7.
The era of electrification is also inseparable from intelligence, compared with the new power brand, BYD is still a short board in this area. The performance of its DiLink intelligent networked car machine and DiPilot intelligent driving system is relatively conservative.
Knowing this, BYD chose Baidu as its supplier of intelligent driving technology earlier, and will use Baidu's ANP intelligent driving products to co-drive maps with humans and machines in the future.
At the same time, it also invested in LiDAR company Sagitar Juchuang and announced that it will be equipped with NVIDIA's DRIVE Hyperion platform on some models. The low-end models cooperate with Horizon in terms of intelligent driving, and Seal is also equipped with Huawei's MDC intelligent driving computing platform.
Through cooperation with these industry giants, it is believed that BYD's models will soon be able to match the new power brands in terms of intelligence.
