Last week, Consumer Reports magazine selected the latest U.S. automotive market brand rankings, as well as the best models in segments such as cars, SUVs, pickups, and electric vehicles. In the 2022 Auto Brand Portfolio, 32 brands are ranked based on the overall score of the model, including road testing, reliability, satisfaction and safety.
The road test score includes more than 50 tests and evaluations of the vehicle;
The forecast reliability rating is based on issues reported by members of the 17 question areas in consumer reports' annual automotive survey;
Owner satisfaction projections are based on whether Consumer Reports members said in the survey that they would buy the same car again if given the chance.
Safety includes the evaluation of any possible crash test results and the granting of additional scores to vehicles equipped with collision prevention systems.
In the final result, Subaru surpassed Mazda to win the title of Best Brand, Mazda ranked second, and BMW, Honda and Lexus ranked third to fifth. In the top ten, Audi has the largest increase, rising five places from last year to sixth. Among all the brands, Acura has made the most progress, with a rise of 11 places, ranking 12th.
It is worth noting that Tesla ranked 23rd this year, down 7 places from last year. Consumer Reports notes that the main reason for this decline is that Tesla has adopted a "difficult-to-use yoke steering wheel" in its Model S and Model X models, affecting its test scores.
Other local U.S. automakers besides Tesla also performed poorly, with none of them in the top ten. The highest-ranked Buick was at No. 11, down two places from last year; Chrysler was at No. 13, down five places. Cadillac and Ford are 21st and 22nd respectively, but have risen 1 and 3 places; among all brands, GM's GMC is in the bottom, FCA's JEEP is at the bottom, and Last year's Bottom Alfa Romeo is also from the FCA Group, up 4 places this year, but only 28th.
In the "2022 Top Ten Models Ranking", they are evaluated according to the price range. Among the models priced at less than $25,000, nissan Sentra and Nissan Rogue Sport were selected as the best small car and the best micro SUV, respectively;
Priced at $25,000 to $35,000, the Subaru Forester was named Best Small SUV, the Honda Accord was voted Best Midsize Sedan, and the Toyota Prius was voted Best Hybrid.
Among the models priced at $35,000 to $45,000, the Toyota RAV4 Prime was selected as the best compact two-row SUV, the Kia Telluride was selected as the best three-row medium SUV, and the Honda Ridgeline was selected as the best compact pickup.
Among the models priced at more than $45,000, the Lexus RX was voted the best luxury mid-size SUV, and the best electric vehicle was awarded to the Ford Mustang Mach-E.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E replaces the Tesla Model 3, which has won best electric vehicle for two consecutive years. The Consumer Report explains that the Mustang Mach-E has enough strength to prove itself can surpass the Model 3. This model is more practical and more user-friendly. For example, both models have large screens that contain entertainment systems, but the Mustang Mach-E is obviously easier to operate and doesn't require multiple steps to activate regular functions, such as using a defroster or adjusting the rearview mirrors.
In addition, The Mustang Mach-E's active driver assistance system has an effective driver monitoring function that issues appropriate warnings when drivers are too far off the road, and the Mustang Mach-E is the only model to receive extra points in the program of all the selected models.
