However, if moms and dads lack a keen sense of their own behavior, it may cause bad behavior problems. Some children can please their parents with good behavior, get appreciated, and thus meet their own psychological needs; but some children can't do it. When psychological needs are not met, inappropriate behavior is used as compensation.
Four types of misconduct
The first: attract attention. Children need their parents' attention before they feel valued by their parents. When children can't get the attention of their parents from good behavior, they will use the wrong behavior to achieve their own goals.
The second type: the struggle for power. Like adults, children feel important and need respect and acceptance from others. When children feel that their parents are using power to control themselves, they will show their abilities by resisting. The more the parent exercises authority, the greater the child's resistance.
The third: revenge. Children are often losers in the struggle for power with their parents; they turn to revenge to stab their parents in the heart. The child thinks that this will make the parents know his importance.
The fourth: give up on yourself. When a child feels worthless and loses even the courage to confront and retaliate, he will show incompetence to evade the demands of others.
Overprotectiveness, sympathy, control, and domination of the child are all acts of disrespect for the child. Responsible parents should give their children the freedom to choose in a friendly and rigorous manner, while allowing their children to experience the consequences of this choice.
