In 1940, war, poverty, aggression... Everything made the lives of the people on the mainland miserable and poor, and in the miserable life, the Wu family courtyard living in a small village in Gaosha Town, Hekou County, Hunan Province, finally ushered in a happy event, and in this year Wu Qiying was born.

At this time, Wu Qiying also had a dream, wanting to see how the bridges that only existed in those books were built by manpower on both sides of the great river and connected to the mountains and ravines.
By the age of 16, the poor family could no longer afford wu Qiying's continued education, so Wu Qiying, who had recently graduated from junior high school, began to drop out of school to work.
It was also this time of going out to work that Wu Qiying, who was only 16 years old, saw his dream, because he saw that the place where he worked was actually the construction site of the water conservancy highway construction that was widely praised at that time, and since then, the architect who has made great contributions to the bridge cause of new China began his self-taught life.
Wu Qiying began to learn the knowledge of bridge construction in her work, and saw that a dream she had when she was a child had almost come true.
This made Wu Qiying very excited, not only working very actively, but also often asking for advice from experienced old workers, and even when colleagues and workers were resting, Wu Qiying was constantly learning various knowledge and concepts about bridge construction.
Although Wu Qiying only has a junior high school education, with unremitting efforts and accumulated over time, Wu Qiying's knowledge in architectural design and water conservancy highways has not been lost to professional college students.
In the end, Wu Qiying's efforts also got their due rewards, and after a long period of study in the construction frontline, Wu Qiying was officially hired by the Hunan Provincial Bridge Bureau and became a bridge designer.
Since the 1970s, Wu Qiying has been in charge of bridge design, and the first bridge he designed, Zhantian Bridge, was officially completed in 1974. (Zhanjiang Bridge is the largest stone hyperbolic arch bridge in mainland China.) ）

Under the unremitting efforts of Wu Qiying and other ancestors, a series of amazing bridges have appeared on the land of Shenzhou.
In 1986, the spring breeze of reform and opening up had already blown all over the motherland, and at that time, in order to bring convenience to the villagers of Taojin Village, our government decided to build a bridge in Dongkou County. Wu Qiying, who was prominent in bridge construction, became the designer of this project.
After receiving the task, Wu Qiying immediately began to investigate the geological environment around Zhoukou County, and finally Wu Qiying concluded that because the local soil texture was relatively soft and did not meet the conditions for large-scale construction, the canyon that needed to build a bridge was flanked by extremely steep rock walls.
This series of conclusions tells people that if a common arch bridge is built in this place, then for the safety of the entire bridge, it is necessary to build piers up to ten meters high at the bottom of the canyon during the construction process.
But adding such a large pier will inevitably make the construction cost of the bridge more than budgeted, so Wu Qiying adopted a building idea that had never been involved in previous history - to build an upper-bearing suspension bridge on the canyon.
This kind of upper-bearing suspension bridge already had a successful precedent in the world at that time, but it was the first time it was built in China, which was undoubtedly a bold idea, but such a construction plan was just enough to meet the budget of the gold rush bridge construction.
To this end, Wu Qiying worked hard to overcome public opinion, and in the end, this unique bridge was built.
After more than eight months of construction, China's first upper-bearing suspension bridge, the Taojin Bridge, was officially launched.
Because the bridge uses an upper-bearing suspension belt, the whole bridge looks like it is suspended in mid-air, and everyone who sees it for the first time will feel that this is the result of "the construction drawings are reversed", which has made people question the safety of this "upside-down bridge", which can be described as a sensation.
However, all doubts faded with the test of time, until decades later, the gold rush bridge as the main passageway of Taojin Village and Donggu Highway still stands through the wind and rain, and has been serving the people of Dongkou County with decades of accident-free outstanding results.
Today, this very distinctive gold rush bridge has also become a famous local landscape in Hunan, attracting tourists from all over the country to visit every year.
