Japanese experts are very confused, why can the United States occupy Iwo Jima, but can not win the battle of Ganling?

To say that they are not afraid of death, the Japanese are absolutely proud enough. Of the 23,000 defenders on Iwo Jima, only 1,083 survived. But not being afraid of death does not mean victory, and Iwo Jima is the simplest example.

The same yellow people's army, the same face the Americans, but why can the volunteer army hold Shangganling? In Li Feng's book "Decisive Battle of Korea", five reasons are described, and we will analyze them one by one.

First, logistics

On the first day of Shangganling, the fight was very fierce, and the 15th Army urgently purchased more than 30,000 kilograms of apples from the rear, but there was no way to send them into the tunnel, so that the military department stipulated that as long as a basket of apples was sent, it could be credited with second-class merit, but in the end only one apple entered the tunnel, which is also the origin of "one apple" that we are familiar with.

However, these difficulties did not crush the volunteer army, and the logistics department of the 15th Army, under such difficult circumstances, had to use creeping transportation and relay transportation to successfully transport a large amount of food and materials into the tunnel. The entire Battle of Shangganling transported personnel casualties reached 1700 people, accounting for 14% of the total casualties. It can be said that without these transport personnel, Shangganling cannot be defended.

On the other hand, the Japanese army completely cut off logistical supplies, and the navy was still rejoicing, hoping that the army on the island would die clean. Don't say that the transport can not be passed, even if it can be transported, the Japanese Navy will never do it!

Second, the tunnel

When the Shangganling Campaign was launched, our army had been fighting with the US army for a long time, and we really knew the firepower superiority of the US army. Our tunnels are digging deeper and deeper, and the top of the tunnels in Shangganling is 35 meters thick, which is simply not something that the US artillery can blow up. More importantly, our passage is in the reverse slope, and the artillery cannot shoot directly at all, which greatly guarantees the vitality of our army.

Third, artillery fire kills

At that time, the volunteer troops had almost been equipped with Soviet-made weapons, especially the Katyusha rocket artillery, which was even more terrifying to the enemy. 24 gates of Katyusha were assembled for the 15th Army and were thrown into the Shangganling Battlefield. The artillery units in this battle made a great contribution, and they annihilated 70% of the total number of enemies annihilated in the Battle of Shangganling.

What is more comfortable is that the Katyusha rocket cannon is self-propelled, and after hitting, it can be directly greased on the soles of the feet. Even if the American artillery knew their coordinates, a burst of artillery fire would have already run away. So the rocket artillery regiment fought ten times in Shangganling, and did not lose a single cannon itself.

Fourth, grenades

There is an interesting comparison of data in "The Decisive Battle of Korea". On the first day of Shangganling, the volunteer army consumed a total of 400,000 rounds of ammunition and more than 10,000 grenades, and by the 16th day, the volunteer army consumed 30,000 grenades and more than 300,000 rounds of ammunition. Did you find it? As the campaign progressed, the consumption of grenades increased.

We fighters not only like grenades, but also especially like blasters and anti-tank grenades. Especially the anti-tank grenade, the soldiers called him two and a half pounds, used to hit the tank there is nothing wrong with it. It can even deal with enemy bunkers or thrown into enemy crowds to explode, blowing up comfortably enough to directly destroy a platoon. When the Volunteers recaptured their surface positions at night, anti-tank grenades made a great contribution.

Fifth, offensive capability

During the day, the United States occupied the surface position with its superiority in firepower, so we stayed in the tunnel and did not come out, and at night we came out to retake the position again, and the tug-of-war continued, which made the Americans lose their heads.

However, the Japanese army on Iwo Jima only knew how to be passively beaten, and it was difficult to launch a counterattack, or more than a thousand suicidal people charged at the American army, and as a result, they all finished playing, and then never had the courage to fight back.

But the volunteers' counterattack was much smarter. Using the method of a combat team, they launched a night raid on the American army. From October 21 to October 29, a total of 158 launches were launched, and only nine failed, with a success rate of 94.3%.

These data are recorded in "Decisive Battle of Korea". When the battle came to this situation, the UN army no longer had the confidence to fight, even if it occupied the surface position, what could it do? It was nothing more than to facilitate the night raids of the volunteers.

That's why they started to negotiate seriously. How much Van Vliet was shot throughout the Battle of Shangganling? But they didn't get an inch of land. This battle was the battle of the volunteer army. Heroic volunteer soldiers killed and wounded 25,498 Un troops led by American troops, which won the Battle of Shangganling.

I recommend you to watch "Decisive Battle of Korea". The book comprehensively reflects the whole process of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. In the view of the author of this book, the Chinese of that generation lived very fully, they believed that they were righteous, and their happiness was no worse than that of any of us, even though they lived very short.

As the author wrote in the book: a person, a collective, a nation, a country, and even an era, if they want to be looked up to, they always need a little spirit. "Decisive Battle of Korea" two volumes of 60 words, click on the link below to buy.
