If there is no Lu Yu, maybe we drink tea now to fill our stomachs, not to taste tea. Because the tea before the Tang Dynasty was mixed with other fruits, and even fried rice grains, oil residues and the like were added to it, tea like this was of course easy to drink.

When I arrived in the Tang Dynasty, there was one person who was not happy, and this person was Lu Yu. He believes that this way of drinking tea is not advisable, and the taste of tea brewed in this way is no different from the taste of water in the gutter. Therefore, he proposed a new way of drinking tea: that is, there are and only tea leaves in the tea.

He also developed a standard way to boil tea, first mashing the tea leaves and then putting them in boiling water to boil. When drinking, to skim off the foam floating on the tea water, but also filter out the tea residue below, only drink the middle turquoise tea, this way of drinking tea has been similar to our current kung fu tea.

So how did Lu Yu get acquainted with tea? Speaking of which, this is closely related to his personal upbringing. In his Autobiography of Lu Literature, he said that he did not know his identity, because he was abandoned in the wild when he was three years old, and fortunately, he was adopted by the monk Zhiji Zen master of Longgai Temple.

Although Lu Yu was in the Buddhist Gate, he did not want to chant the sutra and chant the Buddha all day long, but instead had a special love for reading and insisted on going down the mountain to study. In order to keep him, Zen Master Zhiji asked him to learn to make tea. Zhiji is good at drinking tea and is also well versed in tea art, and under the cultivation of Zhiji, Lu Yu has a strong interest in tea.

Lu Yu's tea was very well cooked, and Zen Master Zhiji liked to drink the tea he had brewed. Later, after Lu Yu left Longgai Temple, Zen Master Zhiji stopped drinking the tea that others had made for him. Lu Yu's experience had a profound impact on his subsequent tea career.

After Lu Yu left Longgai Temple, he became an actor, who not only acted well, but also wrote his own script. By chance, he was also appreciated by Li Qiwu, the chancellor of the Jingling Imperial Court, and Li Qiwu sent him to the door of Old Master Zou of Huomen Mountain. In this way, he studied with Old Master Zou for seven more years, until he had achieved success in his studies.

After coming down from Huomen Mountain, he became acquainted with Cui Guofu, who was demoted to Sima Jingling, and the two were like-minded, and at first sight, they often went out to play together, talked about poetry, and drank tea and discussed water. Lu Yu was determined to study the tea ceremony in depth and decided to visit Sichuan.

His travels were strongly supported by Choi Guo-woo and gave him a lot of money. Lu Yu collected tea and water all the way, and from time to time asked tea farmers for advice, and recorded the knowledge he learned.

Later, he went to Shengzhou (Nanjing, Jiangsu) and lived in Qixia Temple, concentrating on the study of the tea ceremony, and with the deepening of the research, Lu Yu became more and more proficient in the tea ceremony. So he came up with a book to write a tea ceremony.

In 760 AD, Lu Yu came to Ruxi (Wuxing, Zhejiang), lived in seclusion in the mountains, and devoted himself to writing the famous book "Tea Classic", which had a great influence on tea drinking in later generations, and he was also famous for this work.
