The reasons for the collapse of China's football youth training system are various, and many people blame it on professionalization, gold dollar football, which is not accurate. After about 1963, the mainland football youth training system began to have a prototype. At that time, primary schools were mainly spontaneous football activities and a small number of intramural inter-class competitions, and since 1964, Beijing has begun to organize official city-wide primary school team competitions. But it stopped after 1966 and gradually recovered by 1976.

When the primary school graduates, the amateur sports school begins to enroll, so the sports school students are 12-16-year-old junior high school students, who attend classes in the school during the day, and go to the sports school for semi-professional football training after 2-3 days of class every week, and play another game on Sunday.

After graduating from junior high school, that is, around the age of 16, the professional team began to select top students from the sports school to form a youth team for professional training. At that time, there may have been regulations above that professional teams were not allowed to recruit before the age of 16 (except for small age sports such as gymnastics, diving, etc.), so the level and division of labor of primary schools, amateur sports schools and professional teams were very clear.

This level has been broken since about 1981, starting with the Bayi team.

Bayi Football Team is a strong team in domestic football, but it has a fatal flaw that it does not have its own youth training system. The Bayi team is stationed in Beijing, but it is unable to build its own amateur sports school in the local area, so it always faces a shortage of reserve talents. To this end, the Bayi Workers Brigade reported to the State Sports Commission through the Ministry of Culture of the General Political Department, and the Special Approval Bayi Team can form a football junior team from the national enrollment.

In 1981, the Bayi team began to implement the "1316 high-level training plan", recruited a group of 13-16-year-old top students from amateur sports schools across the country to form the Bayi Junior Football Team, with high-level coaches and scientific research personnel, enjoy the treatment of professional teams, conduct professional training, and strive to become a commando team for Chinese football to rush out of Asia and the world.

It should be said that the original intention of this plan is good, for the Bayi team they have no better choice, the whole process is blameless, but the chain reaction of this matter is unexpected by everyone.

The first to be hit was the city of Beijing. The Bayi Junior Team often has to play games, and the surrounding teams of the same age are the amateur sports school teams in Beijing, and under the fight, the sports school team is vulnerable. It is no wonder that on the one hand, there are carefully selected top people in the country, high level and high treatment, on the other hand, there are seedlings in a district, ordinary coaches, and the conditions of amateur training, which are naturally unmatched, and often are fiascos of big scores.

The Beijing Municipal Sports Commission can't sit still - we lost to Bayi from the starting line, how can we compete in the future? Therefore, it was decided to draw the top athletes from various district sports schools to form the Beijing Junior Football Team from the age of 13, incorporate them into the professional team establishment, enjoy the treatment of professional teams, and carry out professional training. A year later, this team was evenly matched against the Bayi Junior Team, and the leaders of the Sports Committee were also relieved - fortunately, the remedy was timely, and it was not thrown away by the Bayi Team!

Beijing and Bayi are national benchmarks. When the provinces and cities saw that the benchmarks were engaged in this way, the natural groups followed suit and began to engage in professional football teams aged 13-16.

But that's where the problem begins.

The sports committee broke through the restriction of forming a team at the age of 16, formed a professional team from the age of 13, and then withdrew the top athletes of the sports schools in various districts, and these amateur training sports school teams lost their significance and conditions of existence, and almost overnight, the amateur sports school football teams of the junior high school age in various districts and even the whole country were all disbanded.

The only way for the gym to survive is to reach down, so the coaches have begun to form elementary school-age teams. The problem is that primary school students are not like middle school students, go to the sports school for training after school in the afternoon, safety problems and traffic problems are difficult to solve, parents are not at ease, so the enrollment is difficult, forcing the sports school coaches to change the way and go to the primary school to set up points.

The so-called setting point is to select football seedlings of the same age in the whole district to form a sports school team, and concentrate on the primary school in the district where a principal attaches importance to and has good conditions, and this team is not only the team of the sports school, participating in the sports school competition, but also the school team of the primary school, representing the school to participate in the district, city and even the national competition. In this way, the interests of the school and the sports school are balanced, and everyone has enthusiasm. In order to improve efficiency and increase training time, the teams of these schools have adopted the form of centralized accommodation, study and training, called "three concentrations". Soon this form was promoted throughout the country and became the basic form of survival of amateur sports schools, and was even considered to be a perfect embodiment of the combination of sports and education.

However, the existence of point schools has greatly discouraged the enthusiasm of non-point schools. Most of the coaches of the school are professional athletes, the level is significantly higher than that of the average physical education teacher, they draw the top of each school to their own flag, and there are various special treatment and conditions, other schools naturally can not compete with it, and they are ravaged by the competition, and finally they will not play. By 1989, in big cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin, each district had only 2-3 teams left with point schools, and other primary schools were no longer engaged in football. At this time, there are only 10,000 7-16-year-old teenagers in China who play football more than 3 times a week.

Most of these 10,000 people are from the three-episode set-up school and participate in the "three-cup competition" across the country. In order to produce results, they practice 2-3 hours a day or even more, due to poor management, many children's learning is abandoned, and they have learned a bad disease, becoming "illiterate and hooligans". Many coaches are eager to produce results, and a long period of unscientific adult training has wasted a small number of seedlings, and the growth rate is extremely low. In order to compete for the championship, it has become a common practice to cheat and lie about age, and the Chinese Football Association has been powerless. The majority of parents see this scene and no longer let their children play football, at this time, those who set up point schools no longer want to pinch the tip of the tip and have nowhere to start, and eventually can not recruit students, the primary school sports school can only be suspended.

At this point, the amateur sports school system completely collapsed.

No one is malicious, everyone wants to get Chinese football up. But it was our eagerness that led to failure. Because of the rush to achieve results, we have violated the objective laws of football development; reaching down and disrupting the reasonable hierarchical structure; excessive and premature specialization, undermining the balanced development of popularization and improvement, and finally destroying Chinese football in our own hands.

Looking back on this historical process, I hope to warn the current football youth trainers, because I see that there are many places and many practices that are repeating the mistakes of the past - everyone is working hard, but in fact they are destroying Chinese football. Don't do such a stupid thing!
