According to the instructions of the leader, the special case team immediately launched the investigation work. After investigation, there are two suspicious points:
The first suspicious point is that, according to the investigation at the scene, various evidence shows that the so-called car accident is not established at all, so the task force believes that the deceased Yoshiharu Sato did not die in the car accident, but died in his killing.
The second suspicious point is that, according to a survey of the interpersonal relations of Yoshiharu Sato and others in Shanghai, Feng Meng is a relatively important person. But during the police interrogation, at first, Feng Meng only said that it was the Sato family's interpreter who came to Shanghai for tourism. However, as the investigation deepened, it was found that the relationship between Feng Meng and the Sato family was not so simple - after investigation, it was found that Feng Meng was a native of Shanghai, who met Sato Gongyan in 1999 and fell in love and lived together. Not only that, Feng Meng and Sato Gonghiko also jointly funded the purchase of a house and a car in Shanghai (the car used for the crime, which is the car).
The special case team believed that Feng Meng was the breakthrough point in solving the case, so they summoned Feng Meng. At first, Feng Meng was very sure, always saying that he was a translator and did not recognize his relationship with Sato Gongyan. In Feng Meng's account, there are two main points:

The second point is that when Feng Meng rushed to the hospital in a taxi after the phone call, he saw Sato Noborishi sitting in the car, crying all the time, and did not come down.
Feng Meng provides these two points, which are very important for the task force.
Then, in the early hours of May 1, at 4:30 a.m.
The task force immediately summoned Noboru Sato and Kōhiko Sato, mother and son.

5. How are Japanese citizens sentenced for crimes committed in China?
After the bloody case occurred, it caused a great sensation in China and Japan, and all sectors of society paid attention to it. Because all the people in this case, except for Feng Meng, are all Japanese citizens, but Japanese citizens are killed and killed in China, committing crimes, so how should they be sentenced?
On May 15, 2001, the First Branch of the Shanghai Municipal People's Procuratorate approved the arrest of Noboru Sato and Kohiko Sato. At the same time, Feng Meng was suspected of harboring and was also arrested.
On the morning of April 28, 2002, the Fifth Court of the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court heard the case in public.

In court, Sato Noboru repeatedly excused his son, saying that the murder of Sato Yoshiharu was all his own responsibility, but the law was fair.
The following year, on June 25, 2003, the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court held another trial and pronounced a verdict on the case, with Noboru Sato sentenced to 12 years in prison for intentional homicide and Sato Kohiko sentenced to life imprisonment for intentional homicide.
At this point, the judgment came into effect and the case seemed to be over.
But the impact of the case is far from over.
Because, it is too thought-provoking, especially the issue of domestic violence.
