The wind and frost of the experience are engraved on the face of this 50-year-old man, making him look more vicissitudes than his peers.

In April 2014, the Ninth Cppcc Committee of Puchun County, Hubei Province, arranged for him to make a typical speech at the conference; in October 2018, the 10th Cppcc Committee invited him again to report to the members of the CPPCC Committee in the county. Less than an hour's speech won thunderous applause.

Those who have heard his story have all shed tears because of his painful experience, all admired his strength, all impressed by his diligence, and all moved by his love.

His name is Chen Baoguo, his family lives in Jingou Village, Datong Town, Puchun County, and he is currently the general manager of Hubei Yunshang Orchard Development Co., Ltd. This man who came out of the mountains composed a song of life with his own enthusiasm!

One

A channel of more than 10 kilometers, from west to east, from top to bottom, meanders and carries a clear spring rushing through. The name of this channel is Jingou. This poor ravine has 4 villager groups, more than 200 households, more than 800 people, scattered on both sides of the channel. In the eastern part of the channel, 1 to 3 groups of villagers live, and at the western end is Shenxian Mountain, which is inhabited by 4 groups of farmers. Puchun is a poverty-stricken county in the country, Datong Town is located in the northern mountainous area of Puchun, is the poorest township in Puchun, and Jingou Village is the poorest village in Datong.

The summit of Shenxian Mountain, far away from the Famous GuanxianTai in eastern Hubei, is 1159 meters above sea level, known as "a line of heaven". Four groups of dozens of peasant families live there, they live in the clouds all day long, extremely isolated, some people have never stepped out of the mountain gate in their lives.

Step back in time to the 1960s.

Chen Baoguo's family lived on the top of The Immortal Mountain. His father, Chen Zhiping, was loyal and honest, a man who was afraid of breaking his head by falling leaves; his mother, Duan Lanying, was bedridden for many years. The couple gave birth to three sons and two daughters, of which the eldest and second sons died prematurely, and the third son had intellectual problems. In the early morning of June 25, 1964, accompanied by a cry of "wow", another baby of the Chen family came to the world under the sad smile of the adult.

Chen Zhiping thought left and right, and gave the baby a well-known name: Chen Baoguo. He hopes that his youngest son will grow up to be a defender of the family!

Chen Bao's country is poor. The lower grades of elementary school are spent in simple classrooms near the village. When he was seven or eight years old, he suddenly felt pain everywhere in his body. It is not headache, foot pain, hand pain, or spinal bone pain, chest and back pain, as well as intermittent heart disease, nosebleeds and other diseases. Chen Baoguo often said to his mother, "Mother, in addition to the fact that my ears do not hurt, my whole body hurts everywhere." "Children don't tell lies. Once, after taking a preventive injection at school, Chen Baoguo suddenly fainted and did not wake up for half a day.

The Chen couple has no master and is helpless.

The Immortal Mountain is still a mountain down. After finishing the third grade, Chen Baoguo and his friends transferred to the village primary school to study.

This is a very obvious walking route. Up and down, turning, going in and out of the jungle thorns, crossing the terraces, remember to walk along the Jingou channel, keep going forward, to the channel is about to enter the gentle zone, you will reach the village.

The primary school is located in the south direction near the village headquarters. It is said that the school is actually a dilapidated temple. The temple is not small, with several classrooms renovated, two specially set up for teachers to prepare lessons, a playground for students to entertain and exercise, and a canteen for children to eat.

Chen Baoguo cherished the opportunity to study here. He got up every day before dawn to go to school, never arrived late, never missed class, never turned his head and ears in class, and the homework assigned by the teacher was always completed on time. Each result was in the top three. Teachers often praised him, and classmates liked him. The little guy was preoccupied with his studies, and for a long time he forgot all the pains that had been going on in his body. He also solemnly expressed his ideal in his writings, and when he grew up, he wanted to be a useful person to the country and society.

However, the good times were short-lived. In June 1978, it was a day shortly after Chen Baoguo's 14th birthday, when Chen Baoguo was eating lunch, because his stomach was very hungry, he picked up the rice bowl and devoured it, eating and eating, and suddenly felt a tightness in his neck, so he swallowed hard, and the food he swallowed suddenly squirted out of his nostrils. When I took the second bite, I couldn't swallow it. Strangely enough, even water could not be swallowed.

At first, the family thought it was a reaction caused by a cold, and suspected that a bloated throat caused food to pass properly. Later, it became more and more serious, and sometimes it was difficult to swallow a mouthful of porridge, stuck in the throat, neither into the stomach nor spit out. This scared everyone! Therefore, Chen Zhiping took his son to the township health center from time to time to take injections and medicines, constantly checking and diagnosing back and forth, and tossing and turning for half a year did not have any effect. In the end, the doctor could not even get the symptoms out. Doctors say it's an unheard of disease. He suggested that Chen Zhiping take his son to the county town and the provincial city hospital for treatment.

The phrase "go to the county town and the provincial city for treatment" is easy to say from the doctor's mouth, but how difficult it is for a poor family who eats and worries about eating. In addition, I can't read one of my big characters, and I can't tell the difference between east and west, south and north. Chen Zhiping sighed urgently.

After returning home, the child did not know what to do, but Chen Zhiping had to face his son's illness. The couple invited Langzhong to the house, borrowed two eggs from the next door, and delivered a bowl of noodles to Langzhong. Lang Zhong took the pulse for Chen Baoguo, and then sighed and said that the child's illness was "ghost card neck", and if there was a way to cure it, he would send eggs and noodles to the child every day. After saying that, Lang Zhong left helplessly.

Chen Zhiping thought of a lot of soil methods for his son's illness, but no matter how to treat it, he did not make his son's condition improve a little, and finally had to take Chen Baoguo to the county hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the doctors at the county hospital were also unable to determine the condition, but the child stayed in the hospital for a few days, took some medicine, and gave injections for a few days, all to no avail.

Two

When the Shenxian Mountain was brightly red, Chen Baoguo was even more haggard, especially that face, which was as miserable as jaundice; by the season when the rice fragrance was flowing, Chen Baoguo was already skinny, as if as long as he was blown by the wind, he would fall down immediately.

In a clear weather, Chen Baoguo swallowed half a mouthful of food fiercely, but he couldn't swallow it, he was very angry, and he ran to the hillside opposite the school alone, wanting to harm himself. He jumped violently from the hillside to a ditch below, and this jump did not matter, not only did he not fall to his death, but he also inadvertently threw the mouthful of rice in his mouth into his stomach. It was a bonus: bouncing got food into the stomach. He was pleasantly surprised for a while!

Since then, every day when it was time to eat, on the hillside opposite the gate of Jingou Village Primary School, there was such a thrilling scene: 15-year-old Chen Baoguo ate a mouthful of porridge or drank a mouthful of soup, then put down his rice bowl, climbed onto the field mound more than 1 meter high, and jumped down violently. After about three or four rounds, you can add another bite and jump again. In this way, eating a small bowl of rice takes more than an hour to toss. This scene made the teachers who came to watch feel sad, but they really couldn't find a proper word to comfort the children. The students also swept away their usual giggles and looked at him with sympathetic eyes one by one.

Half a year later, there were no more spectators here. Because such scenes have become accustomed to teachers, classmates and nearby villagers. In order to eat, in order to survive, whether it is flying snow fluttering, cold wind raging, or summer red sun, he still insists on jumping up and down there every day.

From the bouncing method and the sitting method to the later breath holding method and the air pressure method, as long as you can send a bowl of rice into your stomach, you have exhausted everything. Sometimes he was bruised and swollen from the nose, dislocated joints, and passed out. In spite of the pain, Chen Baoguo still cried and said to his parents: "I don't want to die, I want to live!" ”

The two old men looked at the disaster-stricken children and cried to death.

Blessings are incomparable, and misfortunes are not alone. Chen Baoguo, who was tormented by the inability to eat, had two terrible complications as scheduled.

It was in the examination room of the middle school examination in July 1979, Chen Baoguo was doing exam questions, when suddenly a heart-rending radiation pain struck the whole body: at first it was stomach pain, esophageal pain, and after a while, this severe pain quickly expanded upwards, resulting in a cracked throat, sore teeth, pain through the heart, and the brain door seemed to explode! The pen in his hand did not listen to the call, his upper body fell to the desk, and finally he did not endure the torment of pain, and Chen Baoguo cried bitterly. Everyone inside and outside the exam room was stunned. The invigilator quickly handed him a cup of hot tea, drank a little, and felt much better. After that, this inexplicable radiation pain came back from time to time, sometimes two or three times a day. The method of "drinking water to relieve pain" once made him drink the water in the rice field pond weir and even the stinky ditch at a critical moment, and he was burned by boiling water at night because he could not wait.

Inability to eat naturally and radiation pain caused Chen Baoguo severe constipation. The stool can't come out, often with iron nails, with the hand, each bowel is like experiencing a death.

How else can you read in such a situation?

In the autumn of 1980, Chen Baoguo, with his incomparable attachment and reluctance to the campus, was picked up by his father to return to the "first line of heaven" covered by clouds. Soon, a very sad news came from the silent and ancient mountain: Chen Baoguo was really pitiful, he was only a teenager and had esophageal cancer...

What could be more unfortunate a blow to a teenage? Especially after being deprived of the opportunity to study, he still had to endure such unbearable illness and suffering. Many times, Chen Baoguo thought that he would die. However, seeing the tired and old back of my parents, I thought that there was a mentally handicapped brother in the family who needed to be taken care of, and my heart was faintly painful! He pounded his chest in pain and kept asking the heavens, "Lord, why are you treating me like this?" ”

After thinking about the pain, Chen Baoguo decided to cheer up his spirits, he did not believe in the immortals, nor did he believe in Daogu, he wanted to save himself. In the spring season, he carried the sporadic money his parents sold eggs and embarked on the road of seeking medical treatment alone. He went to the ancient town of Puzhou, went to the county seat of Caohe, went to a neighboring county, met doctors of different ages in large and small hospitals, took different folk remedies, and used different medicines, but still did not get better.

In 1981, Chen Baoguo, with the mentality of trying it out, accompanied a migrant worker from the same village to Wuhan and consulted in major hospitals such as Tongji Hospital, Hubei Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Union Hospital. Several experts and professors diagnosed and treated him and determined that his condition was not esophageal cancer, but achalasia. This was the first diagnosis given by experts for his condition. Doctors say surgery is possible, and although such surgeries have not been done in the past, they can still be tried, and perhaps surgery can be performed to keep life alive for a few years. Chen Baoguo seemed to see a glimmer of hope, but this "let life last for a few years" made him seem uneasy. More importantly, his purse was empty, where could he go to the hospital? Chen Baoguo had to return to the mountains.

After arriving home, I learned that during the time when I was alone and seeking medical treatment, people in the village had rumors that Chen Baoguo was lost outside and could never come back. The elderly mother thought he would starve or die of thirst even if he did not get lost outside. The old man washed his face with tears every day, and when the child stood in front of him exhausted, the old mother wanted to cry without tears.

Four

Jin Gouqu dragged his long body to greet Chen Baoguo, who had returned from a daze. The trickling spring water that flowed from all directions was still obsessed, and it rushed away in the established direction, from west to east.

Chen Baoguo's father led the cattle to the field to cultivate the fields, coughing all the way, and his cramped body and his pale hair gradually disappeared from sight; his mother still dragged the sick body to take care of the housework, feeding pigs, washing clothes, sweeping the floor, wiping the table, and carving deep wrinkles on his face. The two sisters went to school, and the foolish brother ran around laughing and giggling all day.

Chen Baoguo felt sad in his heart. Yes, I have let my parents my heart over the years. He secretly decided: No matter what, now that he has returned home alive, as long as he is not dead, he can no longer drag down his family, let alone sit still, as long as he lives one more day, he must actively fight against the disease and be the master of his own destiny. While using the old methods of the past to solve his own eating problems, he opened his own new life path. In the case of his own difficulty, no one thought that Chen Baoguo had also done something that others did not dare to think.

The first thing he did was renovate the house. But where does the money come from? Looking at the dilapidated roof beams, he suddenly had an idea: the roof beams on his roof were all made of old riverwood trees, which cost about 15 yuan at the time, while the price of fir trees was only 3 yuan per tree, and the actual effect was not much different. Chen Baoguo had a clever move, and after consulting with his father, he sold all the hemlocks in the old house, bought back the cheap fir tree as a house beam, and used the price difference to buy other building materials needed. It doesn't actually cost much to do so. In a year' time, this strangely ill poor family actually built a conspicuous small bungalow in a mountain village. For a moment, the whole village opened their eyes, and everyone looked at Chen Baoguo with envious eyes.

The second thing he did was solve the problem of water use. In the past, everyone lived in the middle of the mountainside, and they had to take the basin to the top of the mountain to pick up the water, which was very inconvenient. Especially when he was very ill, every time he saw his parents climb up the mountain to receive water, he felt very sad. Now that the housing problem is solved, how can we bring water to the home? Cleverly, he thought of a good way: he used the bamboo that was opened up, one by one, from a few hundred meters away to the mountain spring, to lead the spring water to his own pool, precipitate, and then enter the kitchen water tank through the leather pipe. In this way, the simple "tap water installation" developed by Chen Baoguo changed the history of "first-line sky" all the way to the back mountain to fetch water. Since then, everyone in Jingou Village has eaten such a convenient and clean "tap water"!

The two things of building houses and changing water have brought substantial changes to family life, and Chen Baoguo has more confidence. Confidence is the first secret of success, and soon he put his energy into how to improve production development. He found that the previous generation's production method of working at sunrise and resting at sunset was difficult to improve their lives. After discussing with his father, he planted wild camellia, walnut, cherry, green tree, chestnut, pear tree and other economic fruit trees in front of the house and behind the house, and in just a few years, his family had a considerable income, looking at the home in front of the house and the back of the house that was decorated like a garden by the fruit trees, Chen Baoguo showed a happy smile for the first time!

Witnessing the earth-shaking changes in the Chen family, the whole village focused their attention on Chen Baoguo. After the secretary of the village branch went up the mountain, he praised him: "Baoguo, although you are seriously ill, you are very ambitious, and it is worth learning from the young people of the whole village!" ”

For a time, Chen Baoguo became a celebrity in Jingou Village, and every three or five young people came to visit, and everyone looked at him with adoring eyes. Chen Baoguo did not revel in it, and he firmly believed in his heart: if he does not bow to fate, he must live a famous life.

Five

The ultimate value of life lies in the ability to think and innovate, not just to live, who can enrich each moment with profound content, who is infinitely prolonging their life!

Chen Baoguo calmly formulated the next step of development planning, looking for his own way to survive and get rich. He has studied carpentry, tried to raise long-haired rabbits, earth turtles, etc., and learned radio repair, photography and so on. He also bought back all the textbooks from high school and wanted to learn what he hadn't learned before through self-study. He always believed that only knowledge could change destiny.

In addition to painstakingly studying textbooks, Chen Baoguo also fell in love with calligraphy. Without paper and ink, he practiced on the sand ash and even drew on his thighs when he slept. Brushes and hard pens were practiced, learning strokes and structures, starting from the right letters, starting from the basics, and after several years of perseverance, his calligraphy reached a certain level.

Opportunity always favors those who are prepared. In 1983, the Cultural Station of Daqi Township in Puchun County recruited cultural specialists. Chen Baoguo got this information from the village accountant, and with the attitude of trying it out, he wrote six characters and painted two landscape paintings. Three months later, Chen Baoguo was fortunately admitted and became a full-time cultural cadre at the Daqixiang Cultural Station.

Two years later, Daqi Township merged with Datong Township, and Chen Baoguo naturally entered the Datong Town Cultural Station. In the past few years, Chen Baoguo has won many awards in various calligraphy competitions in the county, and has been hired as a special reporter by the county radio station and the hard pen calligraphy newspaper, and has become a member of the National Hard Pen Calligraphers Association.

Chen Baoguo's excellent organizational ability, unique innovative thinking, excellent calligraphy skills, and spirit of hard work have won the full affirmation of leaders and colleagues. In March 1988, Chen Baoguo was transferred to the Construction Office of the Old District of Puchun County, responsible for the relevant business of the Old District Office. From the "first-line heaven" examination to the cultural station, and then from the cultural station to the county seat, this step by step, Chen Baoguo through his own efforts, to achieve another leap in his life dream. He confidently said to himself, "Do a good job!"

Soon after Chen Baoguo came to the old district office, he encountered the development service company founded by the unit in trouble, whether to abandon the company, or let it fend for itself, or to regroup and create performance again? At the instigation of everyone, Chen Baoguo took over this mess and started a new journey. At that time, the entire company, including the stagnant goods, was only 6,000 yuan in capital, and in less than two years, Chen Baoguo created a performance of nearly 200,000 yuan in annual sales and achieved a good situation of turning losses into profits by running a night market, setting up a "printing department", setting up a "quest craft society", and establishing a "decoration company".

The service company's industry has developed newly, employed personnel have been arranged, work expenses have been guaranteed, employee welfare has been improved, and Chen Baoguo's efforts have been fully affirmed by leaders and colleagues.

Chen Baoguo's strange illness has aroused the great attention of the party and government leaders and relevant personages in Puchun County. Li Bangquan, the director of the old district office who served as the director of the post and telecommunications bureau in Tibet and worked with a generation of role models Kong Fansen, traveled around seeking medical treatment for him, and he brought Chen Baoguo to Yang Qiluo, vice president of the county hospital.

After a careful and careful diagnosis, President Yang maintained the diagnosis of the doctors in the provincial hospital: achalasia. This result once again overturns the inference of "esophageal cancer" and the folk rumor of "ghost card neck".

Achalasia, also known as cardia spasm, giant esophagus. It is a disease in which food cannot pass smoothly and thus remains due to dysfunction of the esophagus, which reduces esophageal tension, peristalsis, and dilation of the esophagus. Its clinical symptoms are dysphagia, retrosternal pain, food reflux, and aspiration and cough. The incidence of esophageal cancer or cardia cancer complicated by this disease is about 10%.

Yang Qiluo had just returned from abroad at that time and was a surgical expert. What is particularly gratifying is that Yang Qiluo has seen and studied similar topics abroad. Such surgery was rare in China at that time, even in large hospitals. Dr. Yang is not 100% sure of success. But Chen Baoguo saw hope and confidence in it. He resolutely decided to ask Dean Yang to give it a try.

June 27, 1991, was the most important turning point in Chen Baoguo's life and his escape birthday. On this day, Yang Qiluo used his experience in studying abroad to start a "cardiac resection" operation for Chen Baoguo. Although Yang Qiluo's medical skills have achieved the expected results, due to the special condition and complicated situation, it is not an easy task to fully recover to a normal person's condition. Although there are still some difficulties in the future, Chen Baoguo's eating problem has been substantially improved. At the very least, a meal can be eaten safely. There is no longer a need to rely on extraordinary means such as bouncing, sitting, qigong, and handstanding to force the goal.

13 years of hunger, severe pain, and torture have finally come to an end since this day. At this time, standing under the blue sky, Chen Baoguo felt that the sun was so warm, the breeze was so gentle, the pedestrians were so enthusiastic, and even the noise of the vehicles on the street now sounded so comfortable. Chen Baoguo deeply felt that it was good to be alive!

Seven

Strike iron first to be hard. Chen Baoguo cultivated his own art and practiced internal skills diligently. He used the time to recover from surgery to apply for the correspondence course of the University of Electricity and Electronics majoring in Chinese language and literature, and after hard work, he finally obtained the self-study diploma as desired. When he got this graduation certificate, Chen Baoguo burst into tears: Although in hardship, there was no worry, this was the fountain of life sent by the Jingou Gorge.

Once, a relative came to his home as a guest, and during the chat, he complained to Chen Baoguo. It is said that the county has opened game entertainment venues everywhere, and the teenagers have been miserable, and his son, who is in the sixth grade, is addicted to game consoles all day, does not eat, drinks, or reads, is as thin as wood, and is in a trance, and how to persuade him is useless. Relatives shed tears as they spoke. The stories of relatives set off huge waves in Chen Baoguo's heart.

After his relatives left, a plan to run a "love school" with the purpose of "cultivating students' interests in art schools" sprouted in his heart. After much deliberation, he decided to put it into action. In the summer of this year, with the strong support of the Education Bureau and other relevant departments, the first youth art school in Puchun County founded by Chen Baoguo was officially established. The school offers majors in calligraphy, painting, and dance. When the news spread, cadres and workers of the county party and government organs and enterprises and institutions took advantage of summer vacations and weekends to send their children to participate in training, and many parents personally accompanied their children to sit in classrooms and listen to lessons. For a time, the business of game entertainment venues was dismal, and the art schools were in full swing. Chen Baoguo's art school has greatly promoted the healthy growth of some teenagers and has been highly praised by parents and society.

In the following years, Chen Baoguo and his wife successively founded puchun science and technology professional school, puchun everbright computer school, puchun labor technical school and so on. As a child from the mountainous areas, Chen Baoguo has always paid attention to the mountainous areas, carried out employment training for the children of poor families in the mountainous areas, and trained more than 10,000 students in total; trained more than 3,000 children of laid-off workers, special hardship students and disabled students free of charge, and reduced training fees by more than 100,000 yuan; and helped more than 3,000 middle and high school graduates and laid-off workers to enter employment and re-employment positions. For many years, the county people's venue has been poorly managed and in trouble. The government leaders held a meeting to solicit everyone's opinions, and some people recommended That Chen Baoguo take over the operation. Chen Baoguo lived up to expectations and served as the manager of the People's Venue for 10 consecutive years from the beginning of 2001 to 2011. He focused his business on holding various art service activities, and enriched the cultural life of the county through the organization of activities, which greatly enlivened the urban and rural culture. The comprehensive index of various touring activities held has ranked first in the national middle vision system for four consecutive years, affirmed by the Ministry of Culture and the China Performers Association, invited to participate in the national performance industry annual meeting for 6 consecutive times, he himself was appointed as the vice chairman of the Xiang'e Performance Association, and was also admitted as a member of the China Performers Association.

Who believes that the person who struggled on the brink of life and death can survive to the present and still achieve such remarkable results? The biggest feature of this man who came out of the mountains is that he is thick and simple, the people in the mountains never forget ben, and his heart is always full of strong nostalgia.

Chen Baoguo never forgot the Golden Ditch that gave birth to him and raised him. After his career was very prosperous and he achieved a certain degree of economic strength, he set his sights on his hometown. Because he is very familiar with the mountains and rivers of Jingou, he feels that there are unique natural resource advantages there, and if it is developed, it is definitely a natural tourist attraction.

In that year, the traffic in Jingou Village was very inconvenient, the information was blocked, and more than 800 people migrated to the small mountain village, and more than 200 people emigrated outward, resulting in a large number of mountainous desolation, coupled with the high mountains and long roads, management disorders, and the villagers relied on the mountains to eat the mountains, sat on the mountains and ate the air, and the more they relied on the mountains, the poorer they were.
