But she knew that the Dulong carpet, the traditional ornament of the Dulong people she weaved, was draped on the body by tourists who came and went, and was brought out of the mountains by the Dulong River Highway and seen by more people.
The rainbow Dulong blanket is a traditional ornament of the Dulong people. The Dulong people combine plant pigments with plant fibers and weave them into colorful cloths, like rainbows. For this reason, they are also known as "rainbow weavers". In 2023, the Dulong carpet making technique was identified as the fifth batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage of Yunnan Province.

On April 10, 2014, the Gaoligongshan Tunnel of Dulongjiang Highway was completed in its entirety, and it took at least three hours to cross the Gaoshan Pass, and it only took 20 minutes to pass through the tunnel after the tunnel was completed. At just 5 years old, Pu Yanfang and her family became the first Dulong people to pass through the Gaoligong Mountain Tunnel.
Ten years ago, Pu Yanfang was burned by an electric grill, because she was wearing a close-fitting dress at the time, the injury was very serious, and she had to be sent to Gongshan County People's Hospital as soon as possible. The Gaoligong Mountain Tunnel, which only took five hours, opened the door to survival for Pu Yanfang and won precious time to save lives. This is the first time in history that vehicles have entered and exited the Dulong River during the closure of the mountain. Due to the large area of burns and serious injuries, this relay of life extended from the Dulong River to Beijing, more than 3,000 kilometers away.
