Since entering 2022, major car companies have opened the "show muscle" stage, and have successively announced their annual sales in 2021. I have to say that under the influence of the epidemic and chip shortage, whether it is an independent brand or a joint venture brand, it still has a good sales performance.
The HKICCA recently announced its December 2021 and full-year sales rankings, with retail sales in the passenger car market reaching 2.105 million units in December, down 7.9% year-on-year and 15.9% month-on-month. Cumulative sales for the full year of 2021 reached 20.146 million units, up 4.4% year-on-year.
Sales of 9.846 million units were cars, 9.221 million UNITS, 1.079 million UNITS, and 2.989 million UNITs of NEV (New Energy).
Specifically, the top 15 models in the passenger car market by sales from January to December 2021:
The top fifteen cars are mainly joint venture brands. The first is that Xuanyi became the champion of the 2021 annual car sales list with 513207 results, and this performance is believed that everyone is not surprised. So I have to say "your uncle or your uncle".
In second and third place were Volkswagen Langyi and Hongguang MINIEV, which sold 432035 and 395451 vehicles respectively last year. It is worth mentioning that Hongguang MINIEV continued to climb in sales in the second half of last year, and the sales volume in December last year also exceeded 50,000 vehicles, which also made it twice last year to suppress Xuanyi and win the monthly sales championship. In terms of independent brands, in addition to Hongguang MINIEV, Geely Emgrand and BYD Qin also ranked 10th and 12th with 209158 and 188921 vehicles, respectively.
Moving to the MPV market, the first model in MPV sales in 2021 is Wuling Hongguang, but it fell by 11% year-on-year, followed by Buick GL8 as an early joint venture brand MPV that entered the domestic market, relying on good product strength and the market foundation accumulated over the years to win the second place in the sales ranking. The Trumpchi M8 beat Odyssey, Capgemini and other models in third place with a high cost performance. In addition, in 2021, the joint venture MPV market has also welcomed several heavyweights Toyota Xena, Kia Kahua, Hyundai Kustu and other models, and the competition in the future home high-end MPV market will also be more intense.
In the SUV market, the Haval H6 continued to dominate the list with 352857 units throughout the year. Compared with the second-ranked model, it is nearly 80,000 vehicles ahead. As a compact SUV that focuses on home use, the H6 has won the favor of many consumers with its excellent cost performance. It was followed by the Changan CS75 and Honda CR-V, with the Toyota RAV4 in fourth place. In terms of luxury brands, BMW X3, Audi Q5 and other models have strongly entered the top fifteen of the list.

Performance of the new energy market
In 2021, the new energy market sales volume was 475,000 units, an increase of 128.9% year-on-year. In 2021, retail sales in the new energy market were 2.989 million units, an increase of 169.1% compared to the same period last year (1.111 million units). The first place in the retail sales ranking of new energy manufacturers is STILL BYD, SAIC-GM-Wuling ranks second in the hot sales list with Hongguang MINIEV, and Tesla China ranks third.
In the retail sales list of new energy cars, Hongguang MINI, the cumulative sales of 395451 units from January to December, the cumulative sales of BYD Qin from January to December 187227 units, and the cumulative sales of Tesla Model 3 from January to December were 150,890 units. Among them, Hongguang MINI and BYD Qin have increased by more than 250% year-on-year, and the remaining new energy cars have not crossed the threshold of 150,000 annual sales of a single model.
In the new energy SUV retail sales ranking, the top 15 models have achieved substantial growth. The model that won the first sales volume was the Tesla Model Y, which sold 169853 units in total.
The runner-up in sales was BYD Song, which sold 104244 vehicles in the whole year, up 444.7% year-on-year.
The ideal ONE was not optimistic before this, and even complained about by many people, but the annual sales of 90491 vehicles once again spoke with strength, and the facts were better than words.
