Huang Wei was pardoned in 1975, and when he was in prison, he ate these things every day at the dinner table.

A gentle gust of wind awakens the body that has been sleeping for a thousand years; a gentle gust of wind blows away the mysterious veil of history. Standing on the shoulders of time, I talk to history.

In December 1948, on the battlefield of the Battle of Huaihai, the 12th Corps of the Nationalist Army, except for deputy commander Hu Lian and others who escaped by chance, completely destroyed the entire corps, and all 120,000 people and horses were annihilated. Huang Wei, commander of the Twelfth Corps, Wu Shaozhou, deputy commander, Yang Botao, commander of the nationalist army, and other senior generals of the Nationalist army were defeated and captured.

Huang Wei was a lieutenant general in the Nationalist Army and a close confidant of Chiang Kai-shek. He was born in 1904 to a farming family in Guixi.

After graduating from the first phase of Huangpu, Huang Wei participated in many battles and was appreciated by Chen Lifu, an elder of the Kuomintang, for his rigorous work and bravery in combat. Chen Lifu strongly recommended Huang Wei to Chiang Kai-shek.

Huang Wei believed in the Confucian idea of "loyal subjects and not two masters", he "stuck to the rules", "conservative superstition", "full of nerds", which is in line with Chiang Kai-shek's "way of the king" and "loyal to the good general" Confucian teachings, so Chiang Kai-shek used Huang Wei heavily. In 1938, Chiang Kai-shek handed over the Eighteenth Army, one of the "five main forces of the Nationalist Army," to Huang Wei, making the 34-year-old commander.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Huang Wei participated in the Battle of Songhu, the Battle of Wuhan, and the Burmese Counteroffensive.

During the Liberation War, Huang Wei prepared to establish a new military school and served as the principal. The school is modeled after west point schools and aims to train core cadres of the army, navy and air force.

In September 1948, after Chiang Kai-shek formed the 12th Corps, he made Huang Wei the commander and reinforcement Xuzhou from western Henan.

When he learned that he had made himself a commander, Huang Wei did not want to lead the soldiers to fight from a personal point of view, he said: "I do not want to lead the soldiers to fight, not greedy for life and afraid of death, but from the long-term interests." ”

Unexpectedly, after hearing this, Chiang Kai-shek picked up his crutch and ordered: "Fighting a war is the most important thing at present, and nothing can be done without destroying the opponent, and you cannot think about it personally!" You are the commander, and Hu Lian is the deputy commander. ”

There was no way, Huang Wei had to agree to take office. He said to Chiang Kai-shek, "However, Headmaster, when this battle is over, I still want to go back to running a military academy!" Chiang Kai-shek readily agreed.

On November 6, 1948, the Battle of Huaihai began. While reinforcing Xuzhou, Huang Wei's corps was heavily encircled by the Central Plains Field Army in the Shuangduiji area southwest of Su County.

After that, Huang Wei, Du Yuming, Song Xilian and other war criminals were successively studied and reformed at the Gongdelin Management Institute and the Fushun War Criminals Management Institute.

In the process of learning and reforming, Huang Wei is very stubborn, full of nerdy, which is a typical example of "refusing to reform".

Huang Wei always refused to say a bad word about Old Jiang, saying that he had no guilt and no regrets. In a conversation, Huang Wei said: "In the Kuomintang, there are many bad people! But there are two people I don't scold, one is Old Jiang and the other is Chen Cheng. Why? Because Old Jiang is my principal, the supreme commander. And Chen Cheng is as kind to me as a mountain, without Chen's heavy use, I did not improve so fast. ”

Moreover, he also ridiculed and ridiculed other war criminals who had confessed their sins and repented. Once, Huang Wei's wife Cai Ruoshu came to visit him and asked him to make a good transformation and strive to get an amnesty as soon as possible, but unexpectedly, Huang Wei immediately turned his face: "You don't want to come to see me in the future!" ”

At the Gongdelin Management Office, there were both Kuomintang war criminals and Japanese war criminals. After learning that Japanese war criminals enjoyed preferential treatment without labor, Huang Wei scolded: "No matter how guilty we are, we are not as guilty as the Japanese Kou, so why can they stay, and we have to work?" ”

After Du Yuming read "The Protracted War," he wrote a 10,000-word confession and reading notes, and asked to send his feelings after reading to Chiang Kai-shek. Huang Wei refused to write any letter of repentance, saying: "I have no guilt to regret, and the only thing I am ashamed of is the rout of more than 100,000 troops under my leadership." The Battle of Huaihai called me stupid and straw bale, which I could not accept. In the end, my regiment was completely annihilated, but another person may not be better than me. ”

Huang Wei was stubborn and had a very bad attitude of confessing guilt. In order to escape "transformation", he often did not write notes, often did not say a word, and did not cooperate and cooperate in the name of studying "perpetual motion machines". He even wrote Yu Qian's "Lime Yin" and Wen Tianxiang's "Song of Righteous Qi" in the book.

Later, after more than four years of meticulous treatment and nursing by medical staff, Huang Wei's illness was cured.

During the renovation period, Huang Wei's table will have a pound of milk, two eggs and three or two meats every day. The War Criminals Management Centre was guaranteed supply every day, even during the three years of hardship of being short of food and clothing.

Huang Wei's daughter, Huang Huinan, later confessed: "Even during the period of national difficulties, there was milk, eggs and meat on my father's table every day. It started with pork, then beef, and finally yellow lamb. After my father received the amnesty, he learned that the country was so difficult and so good to them, and he specially sent soldiers to Inner Mongolia to beat yellow sheep for them to eat. Dad was very touched when he mentioned this. ”
