After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Kuomintang recruited a large number of teachers and students of the Whampoa Military Academy, and even some students were pulled to the front before graduation, and also served as middle and lower-level officers in some main forces.
How fierce the fighting was at that time, we can see from the casualty figures, a certain team of the 16th period of the Whampoa Military Academy, after graduation, reached the front line of the War of Resistance. They were more than 100 people, and only about twenty survived a year later. The eleventh cadets of the Whampoa Military Academy, who had not yet graduated, were sent to the front line because of the emergency of the front-line war, and the 117 people assigned to the 58th Army died more than half after experiencing three battles in Changsha.
In the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, there were also many senior generals from the Whampoa Military Academy who sacrificed their lives for the country, such as brigade commander Huang Meixing, Cai Bingyan, division commander Dai Anlan and others. These people sacrificed their lives for the country and eventually died on the front line of the War of Resistance.
Nowadays, the reputation of the Whampoa Military Academy is also being fiercely lowered by some people. Although many teachers and students were loyal to the country, many Whampoa soldiers defected to the enemy during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. There is a saying on the Internet that the number of enemies thrown by the nationalist army is more than the number of annihilated enemies, which is a great miracle.
From 1939 to the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, in the past few years, nearly a hundred senior generals of the Nationalist army surrendered to the enemy, including Sun Liangcheng, deputy commander-in-chief of the Jicha Theater and commander-in-chief of guerrillas.
Although the nationalist army has surrendered to the enemy in large numbers, not all of these people are regular troops of the nationalist army, and although the central army also has them, they are only a minority. If you say that you came out of the Whampoa Military Academy, it is even more of a minority. A few does not mean no, so how many Huangpu teachers and students have defected to the enemy?
Some people say: Huangpusheng has no one to surrender to the enemy, except for Fang Xianjue, who was forced to surrender to Japan. In fact, how can it be, there are people who are greedy for life and afraid of death, and the Whampoa Military Academy is no exception.
First, Liu Mingxia, a graduate of the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy. He was captured by the Japanese at the Battle of Nakajōsan, but it did not take long for him to betray himself as a traitor. For Liu Mingxia, who was born in the Whampoa Military Academy at the level of major general and division commander, the Japanese army also looked at him differently and was "entrusted with a heavy responsibility." But his ending was also very happy. After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Liu Mingxia was arrested and imprisoned by the Nationalist government for adultery, and subsequently executed.
Second, Huang Ziqi, a second-term student of the Whampoa Military Academy. Huang Ziqi also defected after being captured, and also became a puppet army division commander. This is not the first time that Huang Ziqi has defected, he once participated in the Autumn Harvest Uprising, but then defected to the Kuomintang. It seems that the rebellion will still be addictive. However, after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Huang Ziqi was not punished as he should be.
Third, Liu Yi, a second-term student of the Whampoa Military Academy. In 1938, he defected to Japan, and later served as the brigade commander of the Wang puppet government garrison brigade, and was also arrested and imprisoned after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, but later he was entrusted by his uncle to find someone and successfully fled to Hong Kong.
Fourth, Liu Qixiong of the Second Phase College of the Huangpi Military Academy, after the fall of Nanjing, defected to the Japanese army and became the chief of the officer training team of the Wang puppet government. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he was arrested and imprisoned, and was eventually released by virtue of his relationship. It is not difficult to see that within the National Government, there are indeed many related households, and people's feelings are very complicated. The eventual fall of the Kuomintang is also inevitable.
Of course, there are many more such cases, at least it shows that the so-called Huangpusheng no one surrenders to the enemy does not exist.
In the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, teachers and students of the Whampoa Military Academy played a mainstay role. Although some people sell their lives for glory, it does not affect the world's respect for the teachers and students of the Whampoa Military Academy. No one is perfect, let alone a military academy, and it is inevitable that there will be a few black sheep. At the same time, we should always remember the heroic martyrs who died in the War of Resistance Against Japan, and their heroic deeds will surely be passed down through the ages.
