In 1937, after the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in an all-round way, the Eighth Route Army led by the Communist Party of China crossed the Yellow River in the east and advanced into the anti-Japanese front, and more than 150 party, government, military, study, and business organs such as the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, the Northern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the Headquarters of the 129th Division, and the Field Political Department were stationed in the Taihang Mountains, and the Taihang Mountains became the command center of the entire War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in North China, attracting a large number of enthusiastic young people from all over the country to gather here to join the Anti-Japanese Resistance, and their children could only be fostered in the homes of the local people during the years of artillery fire.

These simple and kind peasant women regarded the lives of the descendants of the Eighth Route Army as more precious than their own lives, and they firmly believed that the Eighth Route Army was fighting devils for the common people, and that feeding the children of the Eighth Route Army well was the contribution they could make to the anti-Japanese resistance. They protect the red fire with their weak bodies and are real heroes.
To be a Taihang grandmother, you have to pass four levels: life is difficult, life is dangerous, parting pain is difficult, and it is difficult to see in life. At that time, there was no way to examine how many Taihang milkmaids there were. According to the investigation of relevant departments in Wuxiang County, Licheng County, Zuoquan County and other places in the Taihang Mountains, almost all villages and villages have Taihang Milk Lady.
