Yu opera has a long history, as early as the Qing Dynasty, Yu opera has become a more influential opera genre in Henan; by the 1950s, Yu opera has spread throughout the north and south of the river.
In the process of its formation and development, Yu opera has absorbed the artistic factors of Kun Cavity, Gao Cavity, Leather Spring and other vocal cavity dramas, and at the same time widely absorbed the popular music, music and rap and folk songs of Henan, forming the art of Yu Opera today.
Yu opera took root and grew up in the Corps
In 1954, The Yu opera master Chang Xiangyu led a group into Xinjiang to perform condolences and performances, which opened the prelude to the development of Yu opera in Xinjiang. After the establishment of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, a large number of Henan people took root in the Corps, and Yu opera and Yu opera culture also entered the Corps. In 1959, the Corps gave birth to the first professional Yu opera group, the Yu Opera Troupe of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. Subsequently, Yu Opera Troupes were established in various parts of the Corps, which opened a new period of vigorous development of Yu Opera in the Corps.

Yu opera developed in the inheritance of the Corps
In recent years, the Corps has promoted the inheritance and development of Yu opera in the Corps by strengthening the protection and inheritance of opera, supporting the creation and production of fine opera products, encouraging grass-roots performances under opera, and improving the training and guarantee mechanism of opera talents, so as to revitalize Yu opera in the corps.
Facing the grassroots, let Yu opera take root on the stage of the people
The Yu Opera Troupe of the Corps has extensively carried out the activities of "sending opera to the countryside" and "sending opera to the campus", so that the art of Yu opera can enter the fields and enter the border troupe. Nearly 100 huimin performances every year not only honed the cast, but also made Yu opera cultivate a deep mass base in the corps.

Committed to inheritance and cultivation of opera talents
Yu opera should not only "sing" well, but also "inherit" well. The Bingtuan Yu Opera Troupe attaches great importance to the cultivation of opera talents. At present, young actors such as Zhang Peipei, Yang Guanggao, Tao Qingqing, as the fourth generation of inheritors of Yu opera, have gradually become the backbone of the development of the troupe, and Zhang Peipei is one of the leaders.
Since 2019, Zhang Peipei has won the 29th Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award and the 30th Shanghai Magnolia Drama Performing Arts Award, becoming the first plum blossom award and magnolia award winner among Xinjiang Hebingtuan theater actors, and also been selected for the 2021 National Opera Performance Leading Talent Training Program.
