At last year's Guangzhou Auto Show, FAW-Volkswagen's new Sagitar debuted, which attracted much attention from consumers with the EA211 EVO 1.5T engine that was first installed on domestic models, and the new car is expected to be launched in May this year. Coincidentally, SAIC Volkswagen also released a new compact sedan - Lingdu L, which was launched on the evening of March 31. The arrival of the two new Volkswagen brand cars marks another effort in the domestic fuel vehicle market, and for consumers, it is inevitable how to choose between these two models.

Faw-Volkswagen Sagittarius and SAIC Volkswagen Lingdu L are both compact cars, but the positioning of the two is not the same.
Since sagitar has been listed in China, it has been labeled with a series of compact family cars such as "practical" and "advanced" with its atmospheric design, sufficient space, relatively advanced materials and good quality. After the replacement, based on the new Sagitar platform created by the MQB A2 platform, the length of the car was increased to 4791mm, and the wheelbase reached 2731mm, which further improved its rear seating space, and even reached the level of mid-level cars.
In terms of interior, Volkswagen's new Sagitar is more pleasing to users in terms of design and materials than the joint venture models of the same level. Its interior covering is not only made of a large area of soft materials, but also has three interior styles to choose from, in the tactile, look and feel level, to create a high-end, comfortable interior atmosphere for users.
The SAIC Volkswagen Lingdu L, which is positioned as sporty and personalized, is very different from Sagittarius due to the design concept of "wide-body coupe". The light strip that runs through the front logo, surrounded by an exaggerated large-mouth grille, the whole vehicle style shows a strong aggressiveness, and the design of Lingdu L, which breaks the convention, may make some maverick consumers shine, but it is difficult to gain the recognition of mainstream consumers.
In terms of interior, Lingdu L also adds many special elements. For example, the upright screen designed with dual screens, the red decorative strips on the central control panel, etc., bring a strong visual impact to consumers.
Comparing the design of the two cars, it can be clearly detected that the positioning of the two cars is completely different, as the new Sagittarius is more atmospheric and advanced, which can meet the needs of different groups of people and different scenes; and Lingdu L is like a "partial student", most of the time it is only the choice of the niche market.

In terms of power, the two cars also have slight differences. As we all know, among the volkswagen group's similar models, it has long been "monopolized" by the power combination of 1.4T + 7DSG. However, the new Sagitar broke this tradition and became the first model in China to be equipped with the new EA211 EVO 1.5T engine.
What is surprising is that this engine, which has long been installed in foreign markets, has been slightly improved compared with the overseas version after the new adjustment of FAW-Volkswagen, and the maximum power has been increased to 118kW, reaching the power level of the previous EA888 1.8T engine. The more powerful performance also makes the new Sagitar tail mark from the previous "280TSI" to "300TSI". In contrast, lingdu L continues to use a 1.4T engine, with a maximum power of 110kW, and the tail mark is still "280TSI".
The new Sagitar engine is equipped with the EA211 EVO 1.5T engine, which not only has a greater power output but also better fuel economy than the old 1.4T engine. Volkswagen's official data shows that the comprehensive fuel consumption has been reduced by 0.2L/100km.
The displacement is larger, the power is stronger, but the fuel consumption is reduced, and this phenomenon of anti-user cognition is actually the EA211EVO 1.5T engine using a series of new black technologies.
The first is the core component turbocharger, which adopts VTG variable-section turbine technology, which can reduce the hysteresis of the turbocharger and improve the power of the engine in the low-speed section. In addition, in order to improve the thermal efficiency of the engine, the compression ratio of the engine is increased to 12.5:1, and the Miller cycle with an expansion ratio greater than the compression ratio is realized through the design of the delayed closing of the intake valve.
In addition, innovative thermal management systems that allow engines to heat up quickly when they are warmed up and dissipate heat quickly during cooling, blunt cylinder technology that closes two or three cylinders at low loads to reduce fuel consumption, common-rail fuel direct injection systems that reduce the diameter of the injector tip to 6 mm and inject fuel pressures up to 350 bar, APS plasma spray cylinder walls that ensure smoother piston ring sliding and less piston motion friction, all appear on Sagitar's EA211 EVO On a 1.5T engine.
The new Sagittarius engine of the EA211 EVO 1.5T engine was replaced, ending the fact that volkswagen brand models have not had new engines for many years, making the Volkswagen brand model "1.4T unchanged for 10,000 years" a history. FAW-Volkswagen's new Sagitar is based on the MQB platform, and its 2731mm wheelbase is only about 100mm compared with mainstream mid-size cars, which makes its interior space comparable to most B-class cars, and it is at the leading level of the same class in terms of space performance and ride comfort. At the same time, Sagitar also uses a mixture of Alcantara fur and leather in the material of the seat, which is quite in place in terms of high-grade feeling.
Built with the concept of "wide-body coupe", the Lingdu L, although it is based on the same platform as the new Sagitar, has the same wheelbase and an additional body width of 31mm. In fact, the extra body width does not bring essential changes to the seating space in the car, but only improves the appearance and posture of the vehicle. Almost the same body height, wider body can make the body have a larger aspect ratio, the visual effect is more impactful. However, the wider body will have a negative impact on the vehicle's handling flexibility to a certain extent, making it more difficult to drive in today's increasingly congested cities.
