A 1-year-old boy who swallowed laundry beads by mistake and risked his life, are these things still in use?

01 Mistakenly used laundry gel beads as candy, and a 1-year-old boy in Shenzhen almost died after swallowing it by mistake

On March 23, 2022, Shenzhen DV reported that a 1-year-old boy used laundry gel beads as candy and swallowed half of them by mistake. After the parents found out, they hurriedly induced vomiting and sent them to the hospital. If it were not for the timely rescue, it would almost kill you.

I was really shocked to see this news. As an old aunt whose girl's heart is still bursting, she was once attracted by the appearance of laundry gel beads, and almost bought it several times. Later, considering that there was a baby at home, I couldn't bear to buy it.

I didn't expect that there were really babies who would swallow the laundry gel beads by mistake.

02What is laundry gel beads

A 1-year-old boy who swallowed laundry beads by mistake and risked his life, are these things still in use?

Friends, look at these laundry gel beads are not very beautiful, very like candy, very attractive? And these laundry gel beads are also usually scented. This will further confuse children into eating them as candy.

Laundry condensation I will not say whether it is high-tech or IQ tax, at least families with children, really should not recommend buying. No matter how well you collect, don't underestimate a child in the exploratory period.

I used laundry detergent when I had a baby, and I don't think this looks so much like food. Bottles of laundry detergent can easily lure children to screw the lid, or even as a drink. Children have a time when they are particularly obsessed with small particles of things and screwing the lid, which is necessary to exercise the fine movement of the fingers.

03 Give your child a safe environment to explore

From birth, a child is constantly exploring this world that has made him curious. Parents blindly block, can not play too much role, will only increase the child's curiosity and even reverse psychology. Especially in children around the age of 2, the mobility is strengthened, self-awareness germinates, and the more they stop, the more they do.

So we must provide a safe environment for children to explore. Especially for the kind of family that carries the baby alone, it is even more necessary.

How to provide such an environment for your baby? I share a little bit of my experience.

1. Set up a special activity area for children

Because I was alone with my children. I usually can't keep my children with me all the time. I built him a game bar in the living room that was no bigger than the size of the bed. There are soft cushions inside and there are no sharp and hard objects inside. Generally dolls, cards, and larger slick toys. Lest he swallow it by mistake, or bump into it.

When I went to the bathroom and stir-fried vegetables, I put him in the stroller and put him in the door of the room.

When your baby can climb, pay attention to the firmness and height of the game bar. Also avoid items that help you climb.

When your baby grows up, he won't close it in the game bar. This is often the most dangerous time.

2. Check whether the facilities at home are safe

Seal the plug hole in the home. Fan put away. Balcony doors closed so as not to climb the washing machine. Detergent must be placed in a high and hidden position, do not use it in front of children, so as not to imitate.

Be sure to seal the balcony and windows. Falling things happen from time to time.

Whether the furniture in the home has sharp corners and if there are anti-collision strips.

Plastic toys should pay attention to quality and do not buy fragile ones.

3. Dangerous goods should be hidden

For example, medicines and pills are also easy for children to eat as candy.

The kettle should be carefully placed, and try not to hold hot water for a long time to avoid spilling. Burned accidents abound.

Glass, vase and other fragile items are stored well.

The toothpick box should be put away, and it is best not to use a bamboo toothpick.

Sharp objects such as sewing boxes, nails, knives, etc. are hidden.

04 A false alarm safety accident

When I was not yet having children, my father once brought my sister's children to my house. They just came back from the supermarket. We all went to work. The little nephew is almost two years old, and he can only say "Daddy, Mommy, Peeing." My dad came home, put his things at the entrance, and went to the kitchen with the dishes. When I came out of the kitchen, I found my nephew sitting on the floor, the lid of a bottle of toilet cleaning spirit open in his hand. My dad ran over and grabbed it. After tightening the lid, I quickly sniffed my little nephew's mouth to see if I had swallowed it by mistake. It didn't seem to be swallowed, because I didn't smell it. But my dad was always nervous. I was afraid if he would swallow a little. He didn't dare to tell us right away, and he didn't know how to get to the hospital. He came from his hometown.

I came back from work in the evening and he told me about it. He told me to pay attention to safety in the future. Kids really can't get out of sight for a minute. He said he didn't expect a child under two years old to unscrew the lid, and it would be a little effort. In case of an accident, he didn't know what to do.

05 Give children safety education

My son was less than a year old, and he could understand a little bit, so I started to instill safety knowledge in him. When he was older, he would accompany him to read picture books about safety knowledge.

So he never touches the switches and plugs at home. When I use scissors or knives, he says be careful not to get my hands on them. When he encounters a very high place, he will not jump down in a hurry, nor will he rush to ascend. Cycling downhill, if the slope is very steep, he will come down and push the car, and even ask me to help support the car together, so as not to fall too fast.

Although it seems that my son is very timid. But that's not a bad thing, at least it's safe. Many accidents are often bold children.

For example, I have a little boy who puts a firecracker in a bamboo tube, and then he looks at it and blows his eyes off. Drowning people are also bold on the base.

I hope that every child can grow up safely and healthily!
