According to the latest retail sales statistics of the Association, the domestic narrow passenger car market sales reached 1.579 million units in March, down 10.5% year-on-year and 25.6% month-on-month; the cumulative sales volume from January to March was 4.915 million units, down 4.5% year-on-year.
In March, the car market sold 742,000 units, down 5.6% year-on-year and up 25.9% month-on-month. Hongguang MINIEV topped the domestic car sales list after December last year. Xuanyi increased slightly compared to February. Tesla Model 3 sales exploded in March, from 4,607 in February to 26,024 in March.
In March, 976,000 SUV models were sold, down 3% y/y and up 1.7% month-on-month. Tesla Model Y performance is eye-catching, surpassing Changan CS75PLUS and Haval H6 to the top of the all-category SUV sales list. Changan brand Gemini CS75 and CS55 sales growth momentum is obvious, ranking 3rd and 5th in the rankings.
In the MPV segment, overall sales in March were 72,000 units, down 33.2% y/y and up 8.2% month-on-month. The top two are still Wuling Hongguang and Buick GL8, with sales of 13726 and 7839 vehicles respectively, and Xena's sales have climbed to 6444 vehicles, which has achieved sales climbing for several consecutive months.
In the new energy segment, monthly sales reached 445,000 units, up 137.6% year-on-year and 63.1% month-on-month. In terms of monthly sales, Hongguang MINIEV still occupies the top position in the list, followed by Tesla Model Y. BYD's main sales models such as Song, Qin, Han and Dolphin also had good sales performance.
In the luxury car market, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class beat the BMW 5 Series and the Audi A4L topped the list. In the luxury SUV market, Tesla Model Y can be described as a ride, Mercedes-Benz GLC sales have achieved significant growth, but also BMW X3, Audi Q5L and other German competitors under the horse.
