Plug-in hybrid to counterattack pure electricity? The difference between BYD Han EV and DM-p technology

On April 10, four brand new models of the BYDHan family were launched at a price of 215,800-32.98 million yuan. This price is almost the same as the previously announced pre-sale price, and it seems that BYD is very confident in Han's product strength.

It is equipped with three sets of powertrains including EV, DM-i and DM-p, and the four models are HanEV Genesis Edition, HanEV Qianshancui Limited Edition, Han DM-i and Han DM-p. The current Han EV 506km/605km luxury model continues to be sold, so there are many options.

After watching the performance of DM-i and DM-P, you will feel as if there is no need to buy an EV model. Han DM-i "4.2L power loss fuel consumption + 1300km comprehensive endurance", Han DM-p "3.7 seconds zero hundred acceleration + 5.2L power loss fuel consumption".

So how does this new set of plug-in DM-i and DM-P do it?

On the new Han DM-i, a new DM-i system is enabled. The fuel engine was upgraded from a 1.5L naturally aspirated (no. BYD472QA) to a 1.5T turbocharged engine (NO. BYD476ZQC). The maximum power is increased to 102kW and the maximum torque is 231Nm.

Zero hundred acceleration takes only 7.9 seconds, NEDC 100 km of power loss fuel consumption is as low as 4.2L, NEDC comprehensive cruising range of up to 1300 km. If you choose the Han DM-i top model, it also has a NEDC 242km ultra-long pure electric endurance, and the 80kW fast charging function only available in pure electric models.

As some friends have said, DM-i and DM-P can be used completely as pure electric models if they have charging pillars at home. Compared with pure electric models, plug-in has no mileage anxiety.

However, compared with the Han EV with an acceleration of 3.9 seconds per 100 kilometers, the ordinary Han DM-i 100 kilometers is only 7.9 seconds. But BYD has prepared a Performance-specific Han DM-P model for this purpose, accelerating only 3.7 seconds per 100 kilometers.

Dm-i systems are all front-drive single-motor, and the four-wheel drive DM-p adds a rear-drive motor on the basis of DM-i. And the rear motor power is up to 200kW and 350Nm. Combined maximum power 360 kW, maximum torque 675 N·m.

One problem that cannot be ignored is that the Han DM-p accelerates faster under the exact same dual motor power as the Han EV, which proves that its body is lighter. BYD did not announce the weight of the Han DM-p, but the EV version is as high as 2170kg.

The lighter weight of the car also makes the sportiness of the Han DM-p a benchmark for BYD's entire range of models. Moreover, the fuel consumption of NEDC only needs 5.2L for 100 kilometers of power loss, and the net electric endurance of NEDC is as high as 202km.

So friends who like performance, Han DM-p will be more powerful.

The performance of the newly launched Han EV Genesis Edition has also been improved: the maximum torque is as high as 700 N·m, and the zero hundred acceleration takes only 3.9 seconds.

ClTC has a range of up to 715km, while the average Han EV has a range of 506km/605km. Han EV Genesis Edition charging 10 minutes endurance increases by up to 150km, 30 minutes to complete the super fast charging ability from 30% to 80% charging.

In the past, plug-in hybrid models had two disadvantages compared to EVs. First, the pure electric endurance is relatively short, generally only a few tens of kilometers. The second point is that most of the performance of plug-in is not as good as pure electricity, and the mileage of good performance is not high.

But this time, the launch of BYDHan DM-i and DM-p, on the one hand, has increased the pure electric endurance to more than 200km, and most of the time it can be used as a pure tram. On the other hand, DM-p has a longer battery life, but its performance is more powerful than that of EVs.

If it were you, what would you choose?
