In the early stage, Shoko was a hard-working, simple and kind, self-respecting and self-reliant, full of passion for life, full of hope for the future, and dreamed of owning a car of her own. In the later period, Shoko experienced three ups and downs of buying a car, and the successive departures of Tiger Girl and Xiao Fuzi, so the actual social environment turned him into a selfish, flattering, lazy, numb, and profitable character.
Xiangzi, who first came to Beijing, because of the life forced after the death of his parents, he wanted to live a good life with his own efforts. At this time, Shoko, an authentic typical small farmer thought, wanted to have a car of his own, and was dedicated to being a rickshaw puller. But in the face of a dark society, this little dream is difficult to realize. Because his goodness, hard work, and integrity are incompatible with the muddy and evil society, he can only become the object of humiliation and oppression.
In the days and nights of working hard in Beijing, Xiangzi, as a coachman, wants to get rid of the fate of a farmer who is dead, but in the years of pulling the car, he knows exactly what kind of fate he has, so he wants to avoid falling into the trap of fate all his life, thinking that by relying on his strength, hard work, and intention, he can live his ideal life. But fate did not open a side to him, he went around in the mud deeper and deeper, and finally could only give up the struggle, completely lose his dignity as a human being, and sell others for money, not as good as a leper dog.
The era in which Xiangzi lived, Mr. Lao She brushed it over. The feudal society that had just been overthrown in old China did not return to God, but fell into warlord chaos, and various revolutions and ideological trends were clamoring in this ancient and devastated and unwieldy land. The xiangzi at the bottom are far from awake enough to think that it is enough to live on their own, but they do not know that China's heavy pace needs to pay a huge responsibility.
Shoko bought a car three times, all of which ended in failure. The death of his wife Tiger Girl in childbirth, and the death of Xiao Fuzi, who he liked later, made him unable to see a way out, and in the end he could only join the world, becoming one of the many people who were lazy, numb and selfish, and flattered. Shoko's metamorphosis cannot be blamed on Shoko, but is at fault in the dark society of cannibalism.
Knowledge can change destiny. In the chaotic real society, most of the people are not wise, and they cannot grasp the pulse of the times for a while and explore their own way out. It can be said that in that era, the way out for Xiangzi was not in Xiangzi, not in Mr. Cao, nor in Ruan Ming, and the way out for Xiangzi was to learn cultural knowledge, accept revolutionary ideas, abandon individualism, take the way out of the toiling masses and even the whole of China as the responsibility, and struggle unceasingly.
