On the evening of May 13, the first Li River Literature Award was announced in Guilin, on the bank of the Li River. Writers Wang Meng, Sun Pin, Yi Zhou, Mu Tao, Zang Di and Mo Huajie won the first "Lijiang Literature Award".

Guided by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Writers Association and sponsored by Lijiang Publishing House, the "Lijiang Literature Award" aims to encourage contemporary Chinese literary creation to explore and innovate, climb the peak, showcase the latest achievements in Chinese literary creation, gather strength, and strengthen in-depth literary exchanges between China and ASEAN countries. The Literature Award is selected once a year, and the "Li River Literature Night" award ceremony and literary discussion and exchange activities are held. The first Lijiang Literature Award set up 1 novel award; 2 Novella Awards; 3 Prizes for Poetry, Prose and Non-Fiction.

The first Lijiang Literature Award is open to the first original literary works officially published or published in Chinese mainland from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. Entries include novels, novellas, essays, poetry, and non-fiction. Adhering to the principle of unity of ideology and artistry, the Lijiang Literature Award focuses on outstanding works that carry forward the core values of socialism, reflect the people's main body and the real life of the new era, shape the image of the new people of the era, and express the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. At the same time, the awards take into account the diversification of themes, themes and styles, pay attention to the artistic quality of works, encourage creative transformation and innovative development, and launch excellent works with Chinese characteristics, Chinese style and Chinese style. This year, Lijiang Literature collected a total of 190 works from domestic and ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, including 42 novels, 57 novels (collections), 49 essays and non-fiction (collections), and 42 poetry collections.

In April 2023, the Lijiang Literature Award was fully launched, and writer Yu Hua served as the director of the final evaluation committee; Chairman of the Guangxi Federation of Literature and Literature, Chairman of the Guangxi Writers Association, Dongxi is the deputy director of the final evaluation committee; Yongxin, chief programmer of "Harvest", Zhang Qinghua, president of the China Contemporary Literature Research Association and executive director of the International Writing Center of Beijing Normal University, Zhang Yanling, editor-in-chief of Southern Literary Circle magazine and chairman of the Guangxi Literary and Art Critics Association, and Xie Youshun, professor and critic of the Department of Chinese of Sun Yat-sen University, served as the final judges. After careful reading and strict evaluation by the jury, the six winning works were announced at the award site on the evening of May 13.

The judges put forward the reasons for recommendation, and after the collective discussion of the judges, the real-name vote was finally carried out: Wang Meng's "Monkey and Boy" won the Long Novel Award; Sun Pin's "The Covenant of Ditang" and Yi Zhou's "Xin Ugly Stories" won the novella award; Mu Tao's "The Big Picture of Chinese" won the Prose Award; Zang Di's "A Brief History of Elves" won the Poetry Prize; Mo Huajie's "In the World of Dust" won the Non-Fiction Award.

Wang Meng, "Monkey and Boy"
