Save face for your opponents and leave yourself a way out

When a smart person interacts with others, while winning face for himself, he will not forget to leave some dignity for others, including his opponents

In 1922, Turkey decided to expel the Greeks from their collars, and the Turkish ear finally won. When the Greek generals, Dilikopis and Dionis, went to their headquarters to surrender, the Turkish soldiers shouted insults at them. But Kemer, the commander-in-chief of the Lord's ear, showed no pride in victory. He took their hands and said, "Sit down, two gentlemen, you must be tired of walking." With the same look of a soldier, he continued, "Two gentlemen, there are many fortuitous circumstances in the war. Sometimes the best soldiers lose battles."

This made the two defeated generals very moved, and did not have a heavy sense of shame because of the defeat and surrender. Later, there was no big grudge between Greece and Turkey, let alone a war. General Kemer's kind words saved the enemy's face and won the possibility of developing friendship. Imagine if Kemer had also been like a soldier in shame on the two surrendered generals, causing them to hold grudges, then it is conceivable that not only will friendship not be discussed, but the story will be inevitable in the future.
