In January 1987, the Vietnamese army poured more than 30,000 shells into our positions, and the scene was very tragic. The company commander in the photo, however, had been crouching in front of a stone crack unwilling to avoid the artillery fire, and after the shelling was over, the soldiers found that behind him lay a wounded soldier.

In order not to let the soldiers be hurt by the artillery fire again, he used his flesh and blood to build a line of defense for the soldiers.

The company commander, Ma Shengyun, a native of Baoji, Shaanxi, joined the army in 1975 and became a soldier in the People's Liberation Army. In 1986, after the Battle of the Two Mountains, Ma Shengyun, then deputy company commander of the 4th Company of the 2nd Battalion, 417th Regiment, 139th Division, 47th Army, accompanied the army to the front line to participate in the battle.

In the battle on the front line, Ma Shengyun led the soldiers of the whole company to be responsible for holding the "Li Haixin Heights". Under extremely difficult conditions, he led the soldiers to hold their positions for more than 3 months, repelled nearly 300 attacks and sneak attacks of the Vietnamese army, and completed the task of holding on to them brilliantly.

In early January 1989, Ma Shengyun was once again given the task of fighting, and the 4th company led by him served as a assault company to carry out point pulling operations against the 167 positions. Due to the geographical location that is easy to defend and difficult to attack, after the Vietnamese army occupied the 167 position, it built many strong fortifications on it, which threatened the safety of our army's position for a long time.

After receiving the task, the 4 companies dispatched 88 people to form the first and second commandos and began emergency training. On January 6, company commander Ma Shengyun led the commando soldiers to hold a swearing-in ceremony to remove the "poisonous fangs."

In fact, as early as 4:30 a.m. on the 6th, 12 comrades of the First Commando Team set off in the dark and climbed towards the 167 forward position. In order not to be detected by the enemy, less than a hundred meters away, they climbed for nearly 2 hours. After arriving, the 12 warriors lurked in the cave for more than 20 hours.

At 3:30 a.m. on the 7th, the follow-up first and second commandos, led by company commander Ma Shengyun, marched towards the established combat area of Highland 167. After arriving at 6:30, the warriors all went into hiding and waited for the official attack time.

At 7 o'clock, more than 300 artillery pieces of our army's position opened fire at the same time, and the artillery fire was not over, and the soldiers of the 4th Company, under the command of company commander Ma Shengyun and deputy company commander Guo Ji'er, launched a fierce attack on the 167 heights, and the battle was very fierce.

After a fierce battle, the casualties on both sides were very tragic, and in the end, it took only 37 minutes for our army to completely annihilate all the enemies on the 167 high ground.

After our army took the position, the Vietnamese army began to counterattack, intending to retake the heights. Relying on artillery fire, the Vietnamese army poured a large number of shells on the 167 heights, and the position was filled with smoke and smoke, and the earth and stones flew randomly. As soon as the artillery fire stopped, the Vietnamese ground forces attacked.

Under the Vietnamese artillery fire and intensive charge, the soldiers of the 4th Company desperately resisted and repelled the Vietnamese army's 6 charges, and also paid a heavy casualty price. Company commander Ma Shengyun was originally in command in the rear, but in order to advance and retreat with the soldiers, he moved the command post to the front line. During the fierce battle, he was hit by shrapnel in the abdomen and legs and was wounded.

At the end of the fight, only a small number of fighters on the position had the ability to maneuver, and they carried the wounded fighters on their backs and moved them to the Tibetan cave. Company commander Ma Shengyun refused to give up on any of the soldiers despite being wounded in many places, and he carried the seriously wounded soldiers on his back and moved his body.

In the process, Vietnamese artillery fire poured into the positions. Ma Shengyun ordered the warriors to hide in place, and he himself was close to a stone crevice, which was the scene that happened at the beginning.

He used his body to protect the wounded warriors hiding in the crevices of the stones behind him. The shrapnel that had fallen on the nearby shell exploded, slashing his body in blood, and he did not move a single step from beginning to end.

It was not until the enemy artillery stopped that the soldiers saved Ma Shengyun, who could not move, that they found that he had more than 30 wounds on his body. Finally, under the stubborn resistance of the soldiers of the 4th Company, the 167 positions were successfully held.

After the war, the 4th Company was awarded the honorary title of "Heroic Fourth Company", and Ma Shengyun was awarded the "First Class Meritorious Service" medal.

Later, when Ma Shengyun recalled these battle stories, he said: "War made me realize cruelty and ruthlessness, and also made me understand the pride of soldiers defending their families and defending the country!" "It is precisely because of such a warrior as Ma Shengyun that he has defended the tranquility of the frontier of the motherland and paid tribute to the hero!" #人物 #
