After the 50th Army arrived in Korea, it did not fight well at the beginning, and in the first battle, the 38th Army was not well fought, and the commander Liang Xingchu was severely criticized by General Peng, in fact, the 50th Army was not as good as the 38th Army at that time, but it did not receive any criticism, which made Zeng Zesheng feel very uncomfortable, and it was more sad to be ignored than to be criticized.
During the Third Campaign to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the 149th Division of the 50th Army created two infantry battalions with explosive packs, grenades completely annihilated the British Royal Heavy Tank Battalion, and the 50th Army and the 39th Army took the lead in entering Seoul. During the Fourth Campaign to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the 50th Army and a division of the 38th Army jointly defended the south bank of the Han River.

The 50th Army and the 112th Division of the 38th Army, in the face of freezing cold weather, very difficult supply of grain and ammunition, and an abnormal shortage of engineering equipment, relied on general field fortifications to carry out defensive operations and strike hard at the enemy. The 4th Company of the 442nd Regiment of the 50th Army was attacked by more than 700 American troops in more than 20 tanks and more than 30 aircraft in turn at the Qibaoshan position, and 4 companies annihilated 200 enemy troops, and finally more than ten people were left.
The 8th Company of the 444th Regiment was attacked by a battalion of American troops at the Sudari position on the 29th, and after the ammunition ran out, it also engaged in a fierce white-knife battle with the American army, annihilating 167 enemy troops and finally holding the position. The 447th Regiment of the 50th Army repelled the enemy's position in Dongyuanli on the 30th, repelling more than 3,000 enemy troops in 4 fierce attacks with the cooperation of more than 80 tanks and more than 20 aircraft, and after the war, the 447th Regiment was awarded the honorary title of "Baiyun Mountain Regiment". At that time, the US army was forced to find several agents from Taiwan, they found the roster of the original 60th Army, shouted the names of the officers and men of the 50th Army one by one on the position with a loudspeaker, and promised a high-ranking officer Houlu, but the position of the 50th Army was still unmoved. In the blockade battle on the south bank of the Han River, the 50th Army's 30,000 men were left with 10,000 men, and the 50th Army also joined the ranks of the main forces of the People's Liberation Army because of this battle.
