In October 1948, Zeng Zesheng, then commander of the 60th Army of the Nationalist Army, led an uprising in Changchun and threw himself into the embrace of the people. After the uprising of the 60th Army, it was reorganized into the 50th Army of the People's Liberation Army, with Zeng Zesheng as its commander. This was a glorious unit, formerly known as the Dian Army, and the first commander was Lu Han, which inflicted heavy losses on the Japanese army in the War of Resistance Against Japan.

At the invitation of Long Yun, Zeng Zesheng returned to Yunnan, and in September 1937 he served as the commander of the 1085th Regiment of the 184th Division of the 60th Army, leading his troops to participate in the Battle of Taierzhuang, after which he successively served as deputy division commander and division commander, and in November 1944 he was appointed commander of the 60th Army, and led his troops to Vietnam to accept the surrender of the Japanese army.
It can be said that he basically fought against the Japanese army throughout the war of resistance, and in the war of liberation he was dissatisfied with some of Chiang Kai-shek's massacre policies, led the army to revolt, and became a member of the people, but there was always a knot in his heart, that is, he came from the old army, afraid of being looked down upon by the brother troops, and this almost became his heart disease.
After the outbreak of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the 50th Army was also one of the first 6 corps to enter the Korean War, but in the early stage, the 50th Army supported as a reserve, whether it was a strategic need or other reasons, which made Zeng Zesheng a little sullen, and then on the eve of the end of the battle at the end of Christmas, MacArthur took the main offensive task, and as a result, the 50th Army failed to complete the task, and it was even more uncomfortable for him to fight for three consecutive nights.
