Born in 1884, the Sichuan warlord Yang Sen was a major general in the Sichuan Army, a second-class general in the National Revolutionary Army and later the chairman of Guizhou Province. He successively experienced the Xinhai Revolution, the Patriotic War, the Central Plains Scuffle, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and the War of Liberation, fighting for justice, colluding with Beiyang warlords to sabotage the Northern Expedition, and following Chiang Kai-shek in fighting the civil war. In 1949, knowing that he could not gain a foothold on the mainland, he fled to Taiwan with the Nationalist army until his death in 1977 at the age of 93.
