On May 5, BMW officially released the news that the new DOMESTIC BMW i3 has officially rolled off the production line at the Shenyang production base Lida factory. As BMW's newly built pure electric medium-sized sedan, the new car can be regarded as a pure electric version of the BMW 3 Series currently on sale, and the official guidance price is 349,900 yuan. In addition, according to official disclosures, BMW Group is expected to mass-produce and trial production of 15 pure electric vehicles in 2022, covering about 90% of the luxury car segment, and the launch of the new BMW i3 also means that bmw's pace of electrification in China will be further accelerated.

In terms of appearance, the new BMW i3 is slightly different in some details compared with the fuel version of the 3 series, of which the front face is equipped with a larger double kidney grille and has been closed, which better shows the identity of a pure electric vehicle. The "Angel Eye" headlights have also been redesigned, and inverted double "L" type light strips have been added to the lamp cavity. In addition, the front bracket still adopts the layout of the three-stage air intake, but compared with the current BMW 3 Series, the visual impact effect is slightly insufficient.
Coming to the side, the new BMW i3 still uses the body structure of the standard sedan, ensuring the head space of the rear passengers. In addition, a "shark's cheek" deflector design has been added to the rear of the front wheel, and the low wind resistance wheel hub will further enhance the aerodynamic performance. As for the rear part, the difference between the new car and the BMW 3 Series is concentrated in the rear encirclement area, adding a large-size diffuser decoration, while the familiar three-dimensional suspension LED taillights are not absent, and the "L" style is presented after lighting.
In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new BMW i3 are 4872/1846/1481mm, the wheelbase is 2966mm, both the body "three measurements" and the wheelbase exceed the current BMW 3 series long axle version, as a reference, the BMW 3 series long shaft version currently on sale is 4829/1827/1463mm, and the wheelbase is 2961mm.
In terms of interior, the center console of the new BMW i3 still adopts the design of tilting to the driver's side, but with the blessing of the dual screen, the technology atmosphere in the car is stronger than that of the BMW 3 Series. In addition, the new car is also equipped with the brand's latest iDrive 8.0 car machine system, which collects applications commonly used by domestic consumers such as WeChat car version, QQ music, Himalaya, etc., and the vehicle also supports Apple CarPlay and OTA upgrades.
In terms of power, the new BMW i3 adopts the form of a rear single motor, the maximum power of the drive motor is 210kW, the peak torque is 400N·m, and the energy storage device uses a ternary lithium battery pack with a capacity of 70kWh, and the CLTC pure electric mileage is 526km.
Comments: From the perspective of price and product positioning, the biggest competitor of the new BMW i3 in the market is undoubtedly Tesla Model 3, but the latter has been in the market for a long time, and the key "three electric system" has been recognized by the market and consumers; and although BMW is also an early luxury car brand that entered the electrification track, compared with the more focused Tesla, BMW and the new i3 undoubtedly need to prove their strength in the market.
