RAV4 rides the dust
The Toyota RAV4 was the world's number one SUV sold last year, reaching 1.03 million units and the only SUV in the world to sell more than 1 million. Geely, which is currently known as "independent brother", sold 1.32 million vehicles last year, and the sales of a RAV4 caught up with most of Geely.
In the new energy vehicles, BYD, which is full of thorns, sold a total of 730,000 fuel vehicles + trams + hybrids last year, which is 300,000 fewer than the sales of rav4 cars.
So why is RAV4 so arrogant? There are only two reasons for this: First, Toyota's leather is reliable and deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and the demand for cars in different countries may not be the same, but the quality requirements are the same.

Second, Toyota's sales network is all over the world, according to statistics, Toyota's sales network covers nearly 150 countries and regions around the world. The so-called "Toyota of the world" is true.
CR-V lonely second place
The only one who can break the wrist with the RAV4 is the Honda CR-V, but the gap between the two is still obvious, and the CR-V has sold more than 200,000 fewer units than the RAV4. However, the CR-V also leads third place Volkswagen Tiguan by more than 200,000 vehicles. Therefore, the world's first RAV4 rides the dust, and the world's second CR-V is also lonely.
Cr-V's selling points are very similar to RAV4's, with a practical character at home, a leather-resistant quality, and a global sales network. However, I prefer CR-V to RAV4. RAV4 has completely smoothed out the passion and is completely born for home. But the CR-V also retains a bit of Honda's pursuit of sport.
At least the power of the CR-V is much stronger than the RAV4, the CR-V's 1.5T, squeezed out 193 horsepower, and the RAV4's 2.0L version, really only the Buddhist system is left. Of course, the hybrid system of the two cars, that is indeed a fairy fight, are very powerful.
Although I am more partial to CR-V, I have to say that in terms of global word of mouth and recognition, Toyota is still a big brother-like existence, which is better than Honda. This is also the reason why the RAV4 exceeds 200,000 CR-V vehicles.
Volkswagen Tiguan
The world's third-selling SUV is the Volkswagen Tiguan, which sold 575,000 units last year. Tiguan's sales are mainly from the United States and Europe, which sold 158,000 units in China, 133,000 units in Europe and 109,000 units in the United States last year, and together about 400,000 units.
As volkswagen's most important SUV, Tiguan's performance is decent. The car itself is very balanced, and it is certainly not wrong to buy it for home. However, in China, Tiguan also faces two problems, one is that many people's image positioning is more mature, and young people rarely consider it.
Of course, the new Tiguan L is also actively changing, the new R-Line version, the addition of 4 exhaust, tail, 19-inch wheels, etc., is also trying to embrace young people. But the transformation of the overall image still needs a process.
The second is that Tanyue and Tuyue have taken away many potential buyers of Tiguan L. The former is more than enough space and much cheaper. This kind of car-sea tactic does increase the total sales volume, but for the Volkswagen SUV's sub-Thiguan L, the pressure of sales diversion is also very large.
The Korean system is more powerful than we think
What people did not expect was that the Korean system was more powerful than we thought. In the top 10 global sales, there are two Korean cars: Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage. The new Tucson has been domestically produced, but sales have been very dismal.
Kia's new Sportage has not yet been introduced to China, and the country is still relying on KX5 and Zhirun in the hard support, and the sales of the two cars are a typical pair of difficult brothers.
How weak the Korean system is at home, how arrogant it is abroad, in the United States, Europe, and modern Kia are all smooth sailing. Hyundai-Kia sold more than 6.66 million vehicles worldwide last year. However, in China, the market share of the Korean system in 2021 is only 2.58%, which can only be regarded as "other" in the classification.
So why is that? The reason is also very simple, Korean cars take the cost-effective route, in Europe and the United States Korean is synonymous with cost performance, while the quality is also more reliable.
However, in the domestic Korean system has encountered hard stubble, on the cost performance, domestic cars still throw the Korean system out of a few streets. Moreover, in recent years, the design, technology and quality of domestic cars have also risen. The two killer skills of Korean cars: cost performance and quality have no advantage in front of domestic cars, and it is normal for sales to be sluggish.
Highlander is unbeatable in her class
Often beaten and never surpassed, Highlander ranked fifth on the overall list. Compared with the top few, the Highlander is the largest and most expensive.
The reason why Highlander sells well is the same as the RAV4, which is a very balanced "bucket car", with reliable quality and sales network all over the world.
But I also want to remind everyone that the best sales do not necessarily mean that the product is the strongest. It can only explain the car needs that are suitable for most people. Highlander is really good, but there is no need for everyone to blindly follow the trend.

Mazda is not a niche
Mazda has always been considered a small and beautiful brand, and the sales of CX-5s in China are often only two or three thousand. But the CX-5 sells more globally than the Haval H6, with a total of 400,000 units sold last year.
The CX-5 car is a good car, just haven't studied what Chinese like. Or, although the research understands, but is not willing to compromise...
Insist on self-absorption, refuse to improve the space, sales are not good and do not want to be greatly discounted, and even insist on not using a large screen, no touch screen, voice recognition only has the function of calling. Such a product manager has been dismissed 100 times, but Mazda is insisting.

Mazda's insistence on self and domestic car companies are brave in innovation, it is difficult to say who is right and who is wrong. CX-5 in the ice and fire double day at home and abroad, it is difficult to explain with a sentence "Chinese do not understand the car". After all, Chinese consumers do have a strong need for space.
I just hope that Mazda can continue to survive in this maverick way in the country, otherwise our car market will be more boring.
Haval H6
Be sure to get out there
The only Chinese model in the top 10 global sales is the Haval H6, which sold 397,000 units last year. Although H6 only ranked seventh, this result was even more difficult to achieve. The other models on the list are global models, but the H6's sales are almost entirely from China, which is an unfair competition in itself.
Therefore, for H6, there is not much room for domestic sales to continue to increase, and it must go out in the future. Since it has been so successful in China, H6 should have the courage to compete in the global market and international manufacturers.
The good news is that the Great Wall is already doing this, the H6 is listed in Thailand, Haval went to Russia to build a factory, and the acquisition of Daimler's factory in Brazil, all indicate that the Great Wall's vision has looked global.

Soon-to-be-replaced Qashqai
Qashqai's sales last year also ranked 9th in the world, but overseas Qashqai is a new Qashqai that has been replaced, while the domestic sales are still old models. The new Qashqai is expected to be available in China this year.

The old Qashqai, which is currently on sale, also performed well last year, selling more than 160,000 vehicles in China, with an average monthly sales of more than 10,000. Although the product strength has no highlights, it also has no disadvantages.

However, I still don't recommend that you buy a Qashqai now, after all, it is about to be replaced, and the cost performance of the current model is not high. In fact, last year's Qashqai sales were very good, partly because the new Qijun replaced the three-cylinder machine, not only let some people who want to buy Qijun choose Qashqai, but also allowed Nissan to have sufficient chip supply to Qashqa. After all, the sales of New Qijun have fallen too badly, and the chip has saved a lot.
The world's best-selling electric SUV
Ranked 10th was the Mode Y, the only pure electric SUV on the list. Moreover, the sales volume of the Model Y does not represent its strength to a large extent, but only represents Tesla's production capacity. Last year, due to the epidemic coupled with the shortage of chips, Tesla's production capacity was severely limited. Even if you order a Mold Y now, it will take more than 3 months to wait for the train.
It can only be said that Tesla is indeed very fierce, although because of the "brake door", "spy door", etc., Tesla suffered a huge word-of-mouth crisis in China last year. Coupled with the progress of BYD, Xiaopeng and other domestic brands, let everyone think that Tesla is like that, but so.
But globally, Tesla is still very subversive. After the future production capacity problem is gradually solved, Tesla will rush more fiercely.
In fact, there are many Chinese electric vehicles that can call Tesla in China, but we can't just play at the doorstep, only by going out and opening up the international market can we really challenge Tesla.

For a car, performance, quality, reputation, etc. are all competitiveness, and in recent years we have become more and more aware that design is also competitive. But after seeing the global sales ranking, I found that the original scale was also competitive.
With enough scale, you can reduce costs, you can have a greater voice in the supply chain, and you can have more R&D funds.
For independent brands, there is an innate advantage, our domestic market is the world's largest automobile market. But even so, relative to the world, the domestic car market is still too small. Now that our own brands have accumulated a certain strength, we have been developing for decades, and now it is time to go out and open up the global market.
The good news is that many independent brands are already doing this, hoping to see more Chinese cars in the future global sales list.
