Gao Si's guide, as the name suggests, is Gao Si's guide. Many outsiders often write Gaosi's guide as Gaoss's guide, in fact, this Gaosi is different from the mathematical prince of Pigaos, referring to a famous educational institution in Beijing.

The "introduction" is actually a set of four exercise sets (grades 3-6), which is part of the "New Concept Olympiad Mathematics Series" and the other part is the "Gauss School Competition Mathematics Textbook" (grades 1-6), which belongs to the "twin" relationship between the textbook and the exercise set, but the exercise set is more famous than the textbook.
The book was born out of the "Renhua School" series, from conception to organizational strength, and then after continuous revision, it took about six years to finalize, that is, around 2014.
At that time, when the Olympic mathematics was in its heyday, various primary school mathematics competitions were cheap and everyone could participate, and finally the breakouts could win awards with very high gold content and thus enter the more ideal schools.
The positioning of the original compilation of this book was the category of "children's extraordinary education textbooks", and the target group was students with extraordinary intelligence from the third grade of primary school to the first grade of junior high school, that is, children who "did not have enough to eat" in class and had a strong interest in mathematics, and added meals.
However, times have changed and the market has risen. Everyone in the circle knows that in the case of learning the Olympic numbers at home, this set of books positioned for "extraordinary children" has already flown into the homes of ordinary people, and the super extraordinary must be done.
And the age group has long been not limited to the beginning of the third grade, and it is common to brush before school. Modular system
As we all know, there are many modules in the primary school Olympiad, and the division is similar. Gao Si's series of books divides Xiao'ao into several module systems:

Looking back now, it is really not easy for the babies, so many topics, a little bit of learning, a little bit of doing problems. I still remember when I first read this book, I thought that there were so many modules, when I could finish it, and in the blink of an eye, I also came over.

According to the reason, it should be the textbook as the mainstay, supplemented by the set of exercises, but many families have reported one or even several Olympiad lessons, and do not need to study by themselves, so gradually, only "guides" are known in the rivers and lakes, and there are no "textbooks".
However, although I can hardly do Olympiad problems, I really think that the Gaosi textbook is a very good set of self-taught Olympiad textbooks that are a bit undervalued, especially suitable for families who are interested in Olympiad and are not willing to invest too much.
Unlike the guide, which begins in the third grade, the textbook begins in the first grade, with two volumes in each grade, for a total of twelve volumes.
Each lecture in the textbook contains the following:
1. Opening comic.
This comic is not too advanced, but the children like to read it very much, so let's be an introduction to introduce the theme of this chapter.
It is worth mentioning that the characters in it, from the first grade to the sixth grade, will gradually grow up.
2. Knowledge tree.
It is on the knowledge tree, which leaf belongs to which module and which level, so that you can have more progress on the system.
3. Concise knowledge.
Some of this part of the content is a few simple sentences, and some have formulas, which are some very practical summaries and refinements, which will be interspersed between example questions.
4. Example questions.
Each chapter is six examples and four exercises. The first four examples are relatively simple, and each is followed by an exercise of exactly the same type. It is example 1, exercise 1, example 2, practice 2, example 3, practice 3, example 4, practice 4 and so on.

If you buy this set of books is self-taught, and then shallow Olympiad, this example of 5 cases 6 really will not be counted, but in fact, this difficulty is not very high, because in the guide, after all, it has not yet entered the "transcendence".
5. Inside and outside the classroom.
This part is something that both adults and children love to read, and there is a lot of strange and interesting mathematical knowledge. Some children are reluctant to do it, look at these things, but they can't let go, don't ask me how I know!
6. Operation.
After learning, there must be homework, generally five questions, the difficulty is between Example 1 and Example 4, are the types of questions in the examples, as long as the previous learning, the homework will definitely be done.
7. The answer.
Self-taught parents and children must know that a set of Olympiad books, if there is no good answer, is a waste book.
The answers to this set of books consist of three parts: example questions, exercises, and assignments.

Summary: This is a set of Olympiad textbooks suitable for self-study, the overall difficulty is not high, the fun is strong, and the degree of proficiency is first-class. Now we know that this textbook and guide are two parts of a series of books, the textbook belongs to the more friendly, according to the classroom system of the part, and the guide is not so friendly, purely used to brush the part.
That is to say, if you do not take Olympiad classes outside, and you can't teach Olympiad classes at home, then you can directly take the guide to bring in brushes, which is theoretically not OK. Of course, you gave birth to a genius, just when I didn't say anything.
This set of books is best used with the Olympiad class, that is, first learn the module in the classroom, come back to consolidate and expand, in order to prepare for this exam and participate in various competitions.
As mentioned earlier, the guide is different from the textbook, but it is only available in the third grade, and there are four volumes.

The most well-known feature of the guide is the extremely standard and authoritative grading setting. Each chapter of it has three parts, namely "Interest Chapter", "Expansion Chapter" and "Transcendence Chapter".
The interest article, which we often call the "shallow Ao", after learning the relevant topics of the Gaosi textbook, can be easily done part, and it is enough to meet the degree required for most of the additional questions in primary schools.

In the three parts, all the questions, marked with stars, from one star to five stars, represent different difficulties.
Therefore, when communicating in the circle, the difficulty of a certain exam is often defined by the guided star rating, such as the additional questions of the intramural exam are usually one or two stars, a certain internal exam is three stars, what competition is five stars, and so on.

How to use this series of books depends on your purpose.

Then I suggest that starting with the textbook first, parents with or baby self-study, follow the system, complete the Xiao'ao system, get the final example 1 to example 4, can do homework.
If the textbook is learned smoothly, you can also start the introduction, only do the interest article and a small number of expansion topics. It should be noted that the textbook and the guide are not exactly corresponding, it is best to learn all the content of a certain module of a grade, and then go to the guide to find the relevant chapters.

Simple can be seconds, the first time brushed, is not brushed again can be skipped. Two or three brushes are mainly three stars and four stars.
And too difficult, read the answer is also confused, perhaps you can consider listening to some famous teachers' guidance lessons, here is not much introduction.
