As a vane for the future research and development direction of car companies, there will always be a variety of design ideas involving the "future" on the concept body, and even some technical goals that have not yet been achieved but are hoped to achieve by car companies.
But can those Flags set up by the depot really be pulled off?
With this question in mind, let's look back at some concept cars from 10 years ago to see if car companies have successfully brought them to the market.
Toyota FCV-R
At the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota exhibited a concept car called the FCV-R, and said that it is toyota's future development direction for new energy vehicles - hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
In the technical introduction at the time, Toyota claimed that the concept car would produce only one emission - water, and that it could achieve a range of about 700 kilometers when filled with hydrogen.
So did Toyota really build this car? Of course!
The mass-production of the FCV-R concept car is the Mirai, Toyota's first hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to be mass-produced and released to the public.
It first evolved from a relatively abstract FCV-R concept car to an FCV concept car in 2013, and initially established technical specifications: about 100 kW of integrated output power, two 70 MPa high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks and less than 3 minutes of hydrogen refueling time.
Subsequently, Mirai successfully launched in 2015 in some regions.
It took just over 4 years to go from the original concept car to mass production.
The first-generation Toyota Mirai was upgraded to the power performance of the concept car, and the drive motor can output up to 113 kW of power, about 153 horsepower, and 335 N·m of torque.
The two high-pressure hydrogen storage tanks located at the rear of the frame have a capacity of 122L, and with a 1.6kWh nickel-metal hydride power battery, the maximum cruising range can reach 502 kilometers.
However, even though it has been sold overseas for many years and has been exhibited at domestic auto shows many times in the past, Mirai has not been able to introduce itself into the domestic market.
Five years after mass production of the first mirai, Toyota quickly launched the second generation of mirai.
This time, the new Mirai took only one year from the release of the concept car to the mass production and listing; the nickel-metal hydride battery was upgraded to a lithium battery, the mileage was greatly increased to 647 kilometers, and the TNGA-L platform dedicated to the flagship model was used.
Don't dwell on the difficulty of hydrogenation, from the product itself, Toyota has indeed made the concept car a mature product after 10 years.
Volkswagen eT! Concept
Volkswagen, which is also the world's auto giant, also released a forward-looking concept car in 2011 - eT!
This eT! It is not an alien in the movie, but a concept car that foreshadows the future of the Volkswagen T series van.
Although it has not brought too much breakthrough in the design part, it is still the design idea of traditional vans and MPVs, but it adopts a set of pure electric power system.
This pure electric power system consists of four wheel hub motors and power batteries, although the design of the concept car does not specify where the batteries are placed and what the technical performance goals are.
But from the conceptual level, it is through the application of the hub motor, reducing the occupancy of the power system on the body space, so that this van can be loaded with more things.
And in addition to the powertrain innovation, eT! The concept car will also support voice recognition control, a simple "Follow me" or "Come to me" to make it automatically follow you.
The concept car was seen as the successor to Volkswagen's classic T-series van when it was launched, but the Volkswagen T6 (that is, the Domestic Market Metaway) that was born afterwards was still just an ordinary traditional fuel van.
And even in the recent launch of a new generation of T series vans - T7, this new car built on a new platform still does not provide a pure electric version, let alone four wheel motors~ ~ ~ ~ ~
However, judging from the technical strength currently displayed by Volkswagen in the iD series of pure electric models, it will not be too difficult to create a pure electric van with reliable battery life and spacious space.

Just to put such technology on the car, there are still many technical, regulatory and other problems.
Ford Evos
As a representative of American cars, Ford launched a concept car called the Evos more than 10 years ago.
You might say: I know this! Haven't they been mass-produced recently?
Ford did launch a new SUV model for the domestic market earlier, the EVOS, but this EVOS is not directly related to the Evos concept car of that year.
The Evos was designed as a handsome coupe with butterfly-wing doors and a plug-in hybrid system based on Ford's HF35 E-CVT power distribution unit.
The system contains a 2.0L Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine and a lithium battery with a capacity of 7.6kWh, which supports plug-in power replenishment, and the comprehensive mileage is said to reach 800 kilometers, which is almost the old predecessor of the current domestic new generation of plug-in hybrid technology such as BYD DMi.
Unfortunately, this forward-looking hybrid system was not supported by continued development and mass production, and the Evos could only stay in the concept car stage.
But the Evos still left a little behind for the subsequent Ford models.
The highly recognizable six-sided trapezoidal grille in kinetic 2.0 design language, the headlights of the wagon and the muscular body lines are all presented in a number of Ford sedan products that followed.
As for the name Evos, it has been completely inherited by the personalized SUV products specially available in the Chinese market.
Speaking of design, although the mass-produced version of EVOS developed by the domestic team has lost the handsome butterfly wing door and the four-door four-seat coupe structure, we can still find a trace of the EVOS concept car according to the slender headlights and the smooth large sliding roof and the powerful body lines.
Mercedes-Benz F125 Concept
As for Mercedes-Benz, which is considered a "luxury giant" by many consumers, they launched a concept car called the F125 in 2011.
This concept car not only pays tribute to the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mercedes-Benz in terms of naming, but also technically demonstrates Mercedes-Benz's technical conception for the future flagship luxury car.
Like Toyota at the time, Mercedes-Benz also wanted to develop hydrogen fuel cell technology.
So the F125 concept car is set to be equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell power system, but unlike the Toyota concept car with nickel-metal hydride batteries, Mercedes-Benz's F125 uses a lithium battery pack with a capacity of up to 10kWh, which supports plug-in and recharge, and the hub motor can output up to 312 horsepower.
However, perhaps anticipating the difficulties of building supporting infrastructure and mass-producing hydrogen fuel, Mercedes-Benz did not insist on the development of hydrogen fuel cell technology like Toyota, but shifted its focus to ordinary electric systems in the middle of the way.
So the F125 ultimately failed to reach the step of mass production, but in the field of ordinary pure electric, Mercedes-Benz launched EQS.
The five-door coupe shape, pure electric power system, can output 333 to 517 horsepower, the cruising range of up to 849 kilometers.
Although there are many technical differences with the F125, from the image point of view, the EQS and this concept car launched more than 10 years ago are indeed somewhat similar.

In fact, it does not matter whether the technical goals are fully achieved, what is important is that under the speed of technological progress in today's world, 10 years is really nothing that is impossible to complete.
Most of the pits dug in those years were indeed filled back; even if they were not filled, most of the depots followed the direction of development set at the beginning to develop new cars.
