There may be a problem with parking, and Tesla will recall nearly 54,000 U.S. cars

Zhitong Finance APP has learned that Tesla (TSLA. US) will recall 53,822 U.S. cars equipped with the company's Fully Autonomous Driving (Beta) software, which may allow some models to perform "rolling stops" that do not stop completely at some intersections, posing a safety risk.

In response, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that the recall involves parts of the Model S and Model X for 2016-2022, model 3 for 2017-2022 and Model Y for 2020-2022, and NHTSA said that this feature, also known as FSD Beta, allows vehicles to pass through intersections marked "all-way stop" without stopping.

NHTSA said Tesla will conduct an over-the-air software update that disables the "rolling stop" feature. Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Last week, Tesla said the number of FSD Beta vehicles in the U.S. increased to nearly 60,000 from a few thousand at the end of September last year. Tesla says it has been testing improved versions of its self-driving software on public roads, but the automaker and regulator have also said the features don't make the car fully self-driving.

Tesla said that as of Jan. 27, the company was not aware of any warranty claims, collisions, injuries or fatalities related to vehicle recalls.

As of press time, Tesla was up 0.62% to $942.630 before market hours.
