Specifically, Intel will release 15th Gen Core (Lunar Lake) processors in the third quarter of this year and 16th Gen Core (Arrow Lake) processors in Q4.

Seeing this, some friends may question: why did Intel release two generations of processors in such a short period of time? Is there a mistake in the editor's message?

- "Error" does not exist, this news is absolutely accurate, the positioning of these two generations of processors is different. The 15th Gen Core is mainly for laptops, while the 16th Gen Core is mainly for desktops, and there are also models for laptops, and of course, the 16th Gen Core is the focus of everyone's attention.

So, what are the improvements and highlights of the 15th Gen Core?

It is positioned primarily as an "AI PC mobile processor", with stronger CPU and NPU performance, reduced optimized power consumption, and a new integrated GPU with the new Xe2 architecture. The GPU performance is 1.5 times that of the 14th Gen Core (Meteor Lake), in addition to 60 TOPS of AI performance.

The 15th Gen Core processors are mainly made up of three chiplets, one less than the 14th Gen Core, and Intel has merged the SoC and GPU. In addition, the microarchitecture of the large and small cores has been upgraded, with the large core being the Lion Cove architecture and the small core being the Skymont architecture.

The main focus of the 15th generation Core processor is AI performance, the NPU performance is 40+ TOPS, which is more than 3 times that of the previous generation, plus the AI performance of the core display part, the total AI performance is more than 100 TOPS. In addition to this, Intel says that the 15th Gen Core has also made huge improvements in battery life and power efficiency, which is 30% lower than AMD's Ryzen 7 7840U.

The 15th Gen Core processors are currently in mass production, and Intel expects Windows AI PCs with 15th Gen Core processors to be available in the third quarter of this year.

Only DDR5 memory is supported, and DDR4 memory is no longer supported.

3. Intel will release a new 800 series chipset to match it. 4. Native support DDR5-6400 memory. 5. PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes will be added through the CPU and South Bridge.

In addition, there is a very big change in the 16th Gen Core, and that is the naming convention, Intel has deprecated the naming convention such as "Core iX-16XX", and will instead be named the Core Ultra 200 series.
