Born in 1920, Zhou Sophie was a revered female proletarian revolutionary fighter with a legendary life.

She was born in Zhoushan Putuo Shenjiamen Donghengtang, then a prestigious family of the Zhou family. According to Sophie's nephew Mr. Zhou, Sophie's real name was Zhou Suzhen, and later changed her name to Zhou Sophie, and everyone used to call her Sophie. At that time, Mr. Zhou's great-grandfather opened a Zhou Changmao shipyard in Shenjiamen, the Zhou family was well-off, and Sophie was a big lady who did not worry about eating and wearing. Before she reached school age, she was sent to a private primary school by her enlightened father, went to Dinghai Girls' High School at the age of 14, and left home to study in Shanghai at the age of 15.

Sophie has been exposed to many progressive books and periodicals since she was a child, and has planted progressive ideas in her mind, and has heard and witnessed the hardships of fishermen and the ferocity of fishermen, which makes her hate feudalism and exploitation very much. She was not satisfied with dinghai high school and insisted on going to Shanghai to study. The War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out in full swing, and Zhou Sophie actively participated in various patriotic activities such as anti-Japanese parades. For her active propaganda against the civil war, she was blacklisted by Kuomintang agents, and for safety, Sufi evacuated Shanghai with some comrades of the Art Supply Society and transferred to Kunming, Yunnan Province, to participate in the Kunming Anti-Enemy Support Association to engage in anti-Japanese rescue activities. In 1939, the underground party organization sent Sophie to Yan'an, entered the Lu Xun Art Academy to study literature and drama, and after graduating in 1942, she was assigned to the Yan'an "Lu Yi" experimental drama troupe as an actor, and in 1943, she joined the Communist Party of China.
