"Opening the Yangmen Gate" is a traditional and simple ceremony for the Hani ethnic villages in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, to welcome the sowing of seeds. On April 28, the Hani Rice Terraces, a World Heritage Site, held a grand opening ceremony to celebrate a bumper autumn harvest.
With the chanting of the priests, the ritual ceremony of the "Opening the Gate" officially began. The event site reproduced a series of traditional Farming Cultures of Hani that have been passed down for thousands of years, from ploughing and harrowing fields to picking and planting seedlings.
