Title: The Introvert Advantage

By Marti Olsen Laney

Reading Progress: Chapters 7 and 8 of The Personal Pace section

Reading time: 45 minutes

Reading Insights:

Different rhythms can still coexist harmoniously

We all have such a time: if you do some work by yourself, it may be smoother, but if you do it with others, if the rhythm is not the same, then everyone will affect the progress of the work because of the lack of smooth cooperation.

This is because we all have our own rhythm, the same kind of work, some people do it like a tornado, some people work slowly and methodically, and the lines are not messy.

No matter who it is, it has its own thinking and rhythm, we do not have to envy the speed of others, nor do we have to envy the slowness of others, as long as we master our own rhythm and come step by step.

Especially when many people cooperate, knowing more about each other's personality characteristics and assigning different jobs according to work needs and personality advantages will definitely play a good role.

I especially like the word "harmony and difference", my understanding is that everyone should respect their own and other people's personality, find their own rhythm, and be able to do better in situations where cooperation is needed.

The world is so colorful, tolerant of different personalities, tap into the advantages of different personalities, as long as they are harmonious, there is no need to seek common ground.

Keep reading, keep learning, always have gains!

Golden Sentence Sharing:

★ The more you appreciate the virtues of introversion, the more you will be able to accept the fact that you have limited abilities.

★ Never abandon your talents. Go with the flow and you will succeed.

—Sydney Smith

★ If you don't put your foot on the rope, you will never be able to cross that chasm.

—Liz Smith

★ Even the most insignificant successes have also experienced hesitations and pains, and people rarely notice this.

—Anne Sullivan

Resolved issues:

1. How can introverts perform better in the workplace? Pick up the multiple points mentioned in the book and describe 3 points in detail.

(1) When extroverts (the majority) coexist with introverts (minorities) in the workplace, they all need to get to know each other

(2) Introverts must spend extra energy dealing with what is said in the meeting, and take the time to sift through and organize the information after the meeting. Next, they need to retrieve and add their own thoughts and feelings. They can quietly mix these things together and condense them into original ideas and suggestions.

(3) Practice the following steps to resolve conflicts so that you can use them when needed:

★ Clarify the problem and agree on the existence of the problem.

★ Learn how your introvert and the extroverted personality of others affect this question.

★ Try to look at this from the perspective of a colleague.

★ In the process of solving problems, keep introverts and extroverts in mind.

2. The importance of introverts setting their personal pace

Introverts are slower due to physiological mechanisms, learning to set your own pace and allow you to accomplish what you want to do without feeling overwhelmed or depleted. Prioritization allows you to consider which goals make the most sense, leading you to use your energy to achieve them. Personal boundaries can help you create a boundary that keeps stimuli within the "just right" range — neither too much nor too little. When you learn to use these suggestions, you will find yourself able to live a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

If you don't set your pace for yourself, you'll end up feeling overwhelmed and unable to do anything. If you procrastinate, the situation will get worse and make a big mistake. Then, anxiety and depression will come to you, causing you to fall into madness, become forgetful, have difficulty concentrating, and lose the ability to think. Depression leaves you exhausted and listless all day. The great thing about setting a personal pace is that it allows you to accomplish a lot of things without being exhausting.

3. How to determine the personal pace?

★ Pay attention to the highs and lows of the state, do the most important and difficult work when the energy is at its most energetic, and do the easier things when the energy is reduced.

★ The goal should be realistic.

★ Choose how to consume your energy. Remember, there is only so much energy available to you.

★ Divide the project into small pieces.
