Since Zhengzhou Nissan announced the introduction of X-Trail Glory models, many consumers are looking forward to Zhengzhou Nissan can further reduce the price of the model, just like Dongfeng Nissan's two-generation sales strategy, the "classic" model enters the sinking market by reducing the price range, and forms a cooperative relationship with the new model that does not interfere with each other, but can expand the range of the car series.
However, when Zhengzhou Nissan X-Trail Glory was officially listed, everyone was shocked by the price of "189.3-192,800 yuan" of X-Jun Glory. In contrast, the starting price of X-Trail Honor is 7400 yuan higher than that of the new generation of X-Trail, and the power specifications of the standard 2.0L engine + CVT transmission of the whole series are far from the new X-Trail.
Moreover, the starting price of the previous generation of Dongfeng Nissan X-Trail models is only 188,800 yuan, which is 500 yuan lower than that of Kijun Glory.
In other words, XJUN Glory, which was seen by consumers as a dimensionality reduction to hit the joint venture A-class SUV market, not only did not further lower the price threshold, but also the starting price was even more expensive than Dongfeng Nissan's new X-Trail and the previous generation of X-Gun, and its price threshold can be said to be far beyond everyone's expectations.
Based on this, many netizens have raised a question: Is Zhengzhou Nissan Qijun Glory an IQ tax?
Objectively speaking, although the price threshold of Zhengzhou Nissan X-Trail Glory is high, combined with the specific configuration of the model, if the X-Trail Glory is defined as an "IQ tax", it is inevitable that it is a bit "reckless".
Taking the Dongfeng Nissan X-Trail 2020 2.0L 2WD Fashion Edition and the Zhengzhou Nissan X-Trail 2022 2.0L Two-Wheel Drive Zhilian Comfort Edition model as examples, under the premise of a 500 yuan difference in the guidance price, the latter added electronic handbrakes, 360-degree panoramic images, reversing side warning, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, remote start, leather steering wheel, 9-inch LCD central control screen, Vehicle networking and automatic air conditioning.
In addition, it should be emphasized that, perhaps due to emission standards and energy consumption considerations, the 2.0L engine mounted by X-Jun Glory has a maximum horsepower of only 151 horses and a peak torque of 194 Nm. Among them, the maximum horsepower of the engine is 3 horses lower than that of the previous generation of Dongfeng Nissan, and the peak torque is reduced by 10 Nm.
If we ignore the slight downward adjustment of engine output power, then we can say without exaggeration that the configuration level of the entry-level model of X-Gun Honor is already comparable to the high-end model of the previous generation of Dongfeng Nissan X-Trail. Therefore, if you define X-Jun Glory from the perspective of cost performance, in fact, X-Trail Glory is not an IQ tax.
But then again, even if the price of X-Trail Glory is high for a reason, for a model that focuses on the sinking market, "high price, high configuration" will definitely not be its top priority. Two generations of models sold together, classic models should "honestly" lower the price threshold, the target shifted to the sinking market, rather than "grabbing the job bowl" with the new generation of models.
This is just like the strategy of the second and third generation of X-Trail models in the same house, when the third generation of X-Trail was launched in 2014, the second-generation model was renamed the Grace MX6 and produced and sold by the Zhengzhou Nissan factory.
Among them, after the grace MX6 was handed over to Zhengzhou Nissan for production & sale, the starting price of the model was once reduced to 122,800 yuan, and the price threshold was reduced by about 60,000 yuan compared with the original model, using the price advantage to hit the sinking market. Compared with high configuration, low price is often what real users crave most.
Of course, the reason why Zhengzhou Nissan fixed the price threshold of Qijun Glory at such a high position is to reserve enough price reduction space for Qijun Glory in the terminal market in the future, and to create a "cost-effective" effect in the form of price reduction in the future, thereby attracting more consumers.
As for whether X-Trail Honor is worth starting with, my opinion is very simple: it is based on the price of the end market.
If X-Trail Glory can officially reduce 30,000-40,000 yuan in the future, then for consumers with tight car purchase budgets, it is actually a good choice, after all, the quality of the model and the level of configuration are obvious to all. On the contrary, there are not many A-class SUVs at the same price, so why should consumers choose this product that has been "eliminated" by the market and has no price advantage?
