1970–1978 Toyota Corolla
The original Corolla debuted in 1966 and was exported to the United States in 1968. The Original Corolla is still a classic compact Japanese car with a 1.1-liter, 60-horsepower four-cylinder engine. To this day, its simple shape has been highly praised by the market.
1984–1987 Toyota Corolla AE86 Toyota Corolla
The all-new Corolla, which came out in the post-70s, was equipped with a 73-horsepower engine, claiming a 21 percent increase in engine power than before, more powerful than the original first-generation Corolla. In its overseas version, Toyota added more companion versions, including sprinter and Levin models and a nice little station wagon.
1987–1988 Corolla FX16 GT-S hatchback Toyota Corolla
This '80s Corolla was so iconic in its design that toyota named it a modern sports car. Today's GR86 assumed its identity as the Scion (North American Toyota) before the brand was discontinued, with excellent car control and excellent rear-wheel drive that can be traced directly back to the Corolla AE86 (the car of the protagonist in the head text D).
1988–1991 Corolla GT-S Sport Coupe (AE92) Corolla FX16 GT-S hatchback
The Corolla FX16 GT-S hatchback has a fighter name and a two-door model, a first-class one in Corolla's history. At that time, its appearance was also very beautiful (at least in the eyes of Europeans and Americans), and it was powered by a 16-valve double overhead camshaft four-cylinder engine. The 1.6-litre 4A-GE engine powered the early Corolla GT-S AE86 as well as the first MR2 sports car.
2003–2006 Corolla XRS Corolla GT-S sport coupe (AE92)
The E90-generation Corolla GT-S coupe has changed to not be rear-wheel drive like its predecessor, the AE86, but the front-drive coupe does use the same 4A-GE twin-cam four-cylinder engine. In addition, it features classic touches from the late 80s, such as pop-up headlights, ribbed shift levers and GT-S Twin Cam 16 door graphics.
2003–2006 Toyota Matrix XRS Corolla XRS
Someone in Toyota had a brilliant idea to mount the 1.8-liter 2ZZ engine in the Celica GT-S coupe at the time on the humble Corolla. That's why the Corolla XRS was born, equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, beautiful body attachments and a 170-horsepower engine that revs 8,200 rpm. Like Honda's VTEC-equipped engine, the 2ZZ shifts gears at higher revs, meaning the lively wild ferret wakes up after it crosses the 6000 rpm threshold.
Toyota Corolla XSE Sedan/Hatchback Toyota Matrix XRS since 2020
The 2020 Model Matrix is also officially labeled corolla, which was built at the GM/Toyota NUMMI plant in southern California, which was later acquired by Tesla. Like corolla, matrix is available in XRS form, with the same 170 hp engine and six-speed manual transmission. Unlike the Corolla, the rear seats can be folded flat.
2023 Toyota GR Corolla Toyota Corolla XSE sedan/hatchback
This latest Corolla is probably the first model to remain as it was since the original. Many of the other Corollas previously listed are special versions of mainstream sedans. Toyota captured the Corolla's styling focus, counting the experiences of generations, offering a more practical version of the synonymous hatchback and enhancing the car's driving braking response. These changes are reflected in the sportY XSE mating upholstery, which can be used with a six-speed manual transmission on the hatchback. It's all part of Toyota's re-push to make cars that are fun to drive.
Toyota Corolla Toyota GR Corolla 2023
If the 2020 Corolla took the pedigree up a few notches, the 2023 GR Corolla took a hammer, smashed it, and rebuilt its own measuring device. Turning into a delightful sporty, fun-driving Corolla hatchback, Toyota's Gazoo Racing (GR) performance division picked up the bizarre turbocharged I-3 engine and gr-Four adjustable all-wheel drive system. This three-cylinder engine, already considered to be the most powerful existence of similar engines in the world, has gained more power, can produce 300 horsepower, and with a six-speed manual transmission.
It can be seen that Toyota is working hard to eliminate its bland image. Toyota has a rich performance model and a rich history of off-road vehicles, such as Toyota's attempts to re-remind people of its sports car pedigree by offering its legendary trucks and SUVs to a cooler TRD Pro variant, as well as re-reminding people of its sports car pedigree with gr86 and Supra models.
