In January, the industry completed the production and sales of 1.4228 million motorcycles and 1.4538 million units, down 21.03% and 19.91% respectively from the same period last year. Among them, the total sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 1.2838 million units.
From the perspective of motorcycle power supply, fuel motorcycle sales were 1.2455 million units, down 13.44% from the same period last year; electric motorcycles sold a total of 208,200 units, down 44.66% compared with the same period last year.
By model, the total sales of cross-cycling bicycles were 718,800 units, down 8.58% year-on-year, compared with other models, the decline was the least affected by the Spring Festival holidays; the total sales of scooters were 433,600 units, down 23.45% year-on-year; the total sales of curved beam vehicles were 131,400 units, down 39.53% year-on-year; and the total sales of positive three-wheeled motorcycles were 170,000 units, down 30.65% year-on-year.
From the perspective of displacement, small and medium-sized motorcycles in January showed different degrees of decline, but leisure and entertainment motorcycles with a displacement of more than 150ml showed a contrarian growth trend.
The models with a displacement of 110-150ml can be called the golden displacement of the mainland, with a total of 891,500 units sold, accounting for 83% of the total sales.
The total sales of models with displacement between 150ml and 250ml were 118,600 units, accounting for 11%, an increase of 14.25% over the same period last year; the sales of motorcycles with displacement of more than 250ml were 25,500 units, an increase of 32.12% over the same period last year.

This month, the Great Yangtze River Group (Haojue, Haojue Suzuki) ranked first with monthly sales of 175,100 vehicles. Chongqing Loncin and Zongshen Group returned to the top three with monthly sales of 133,900 and 7.85 respectively.
Wuyang Honda and Chongqing Yinxiang rushed into the top five as new faces. Surprisingly, Lifan, which had the third largest total sales volume last year, fell out of the list in January this year.

In January, the export volume of motorcycle vehicles was 750,800 units, down 8.84% year-on-year, and the export value was US$508 million, an increase of 2.04% year-on-year.
In the whole of last year, the top ten enterprises in mainland motorcycle export volume were: Loncin, DajiangJiang, Zongshen, Daye, Xindazhou Honda, Yinxiang, Lifan, Aerospace Bashan, Xiamen Xiaxing and Wuyang Honda.
In the whole year of 2021, motorcycle manufacturers completed a total industrial output value of 138.796 billion yuan, achieving operating income of 151.366 billion yuan, an increase of 16.74% year-on-year; operating costs, taxes and surcharges, sales expenses, management expenses, research and development expenses have increased to varying degrees compared with 2020, and the final total profit is 6.361 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 12.63%.
