For motorcycles, the overseas markets that have been deeply affected by the epidemic are definitely a time when they need to change their strategies. Look at the product lines of Japanese manufacturers two or three years after the 2008 European and American financial crisis.

The focus of this issue is Piaggio Group's flagship power platform for automatic transmission: the V-two-cylinder 850.

Regarding some of the ins and outs of this V-type 90-degree two-cylinder, 850-class machine (839.3 cc exhaust), some of the main points after the comprehensive collation are roughly as follows:

1, the reason for the use of automatic gear, rather than pedal power platform, the reason is that this machine is not only used for pedals, or even not first installed on the pedal;

2. The predecessor of the V-type two-cylinder, 900-class machine to be domestically produced is the 750 platform, not today's focus 850 platform. An important difference between the two is that the 750 and 900 power platforms use the doHC (double overhead camshaft) gas distribution structure, while the 850 platform uses the SOHC (single overhead camshaft) gas distribution structure;

3. The type of this 850 power platform is water-cooled four-stroke V-type 90 degree two-cylinder, SOHC four-cylinder valve per cylinder, with a bore and stroke of 88 mm x 69 mm, and an exhaust capacity of 839.3 cc;

4. The first mass-produced model equipped with this power platform was released in 2006. Installed on different models of different brands, the sales cycle is about from 2007 to 2016;

5, the price reference, belongs to the heavy pedal Apulia SRV850, the late version of the 2012' SRV850 ATC ABS in the Italian market official price of 10490 euros, the price is slightly lower than the Yamaha XP530 TMAX standard version of 10790 euros;

6. The Apulia 2009' Mana 850GT, which belongs to the automatic sports station wagon, was officially priced at 10,750 euros in the Italian market at that time. The Yamaha 2009' XP500 TMAX ABS was officially priced at €9,895 at the time.

Picture below, Piaggio Group's Gilera 850 Twin prototype/engineering prototype was first unveiled in 2002 (profile image). The prototype was powered by a new V-type 90-degree engine, using a frame based on the Raptor 650 frame that Cagiva was selling at the time. The Raptor 650 uses the engine of the Suzuki SV650.

Picture below, Guillerna first unveiled the heavy-duty pedal GP800 in 2007 (profile image). One of the first models to feature the V-type two-cylinder 850 platform was the GP800 pedal. The car was the largest exhaust model in the history of the scooter's mass production model, and at that time it was called "not just a pedal, it can be called an undefinable model category" and "a scooter that dominates the road". In terms of configuration, the GP800 has a maximum power output of 75 hp, continuously variable speed, twin cradle steel tube frames, front 16 and rear 15 inch diameter wheel frames. The GP800's competitors in the market at the time, the Honda SW-T 600 Silver Wing (FJS600, displacement 582 cc) had a maximum power output of 50 hp, the Suzuki AN650 had a maximum power output of 55 hp, and the Yamaha XP500 TMAX had only 45 hp.

Compared to the GP800, the new SRV850 follows the original V-type two-cylinder engine with an exhaust capacity of 839.3 cc, and the bore and stroke remain unchanged, but the maximum power output is slightly increased to 76 hp, and it meets the latest Euro IV emission standards at that time.
