Zongshen Aprilia Apulia GPR250R Unified Race Zhaoqing Station & G Racing Jinkana Grand Prix, January 1-3, 2022, held at the GIC (Guangdong International Circuit) in Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province.

In the two event sessions, the GPR250R unified race used the sports car version of the GPR250R (APR250-R), and the G Racing Kinkana Grand Prix used the sports street car version of the GPR250S (APR250-S).

Both models are products of the same platform, and the original standard state is equipped with a water-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder engine with a bore and stroke of 72 mm x 61.2 mm, an exhaust capacity of 249.2 cc, and a maximum power output of 20.5 kw/9,000 rpm. The body is made of a biplane wide-sided frame made of aluminum alloy, a left and right asymmetrical design of the swingarm, an inverted fork, and the overall weight of the car is 158 kg (sports car version of the GPR250R).

The sports street car version of the GPR250S used in the G Racing Kinkana Grand Prix is all in the original state, after a simple warm-up, the participants can show their agility and fitness in a competitive environment where every second counts, I believe this is not only the result of the drivers' usual hard workouts, but also the result of the easy to get started.

The sports car version of the GPR250R used in the track has a name that is slightly different from commercially available cars: GPR - RF Replica. In the field of large vehicles, the Apulia RF is said to have a further enhanced configuration than the standard model.

It has been verified that the GPR - RF Replica used in this competition is roughly as follows compared to the commercially available version of the GPR250R:

1, the power unit and the gearbox, the two are exactly the same, without any changes;

2. The packets in the ECU of the EFI system, the two are exactly the same;

3, front and rear transmission gears (sprockets), the number of teeth of the two is the same.

The parts of the modification are roughly as follows:

1. Front and rear suspension system, adjustable configuration;

2. A one-way (upshift) fast shift system is installed;

3. The modified exhaust system equipped with a larger back pressure drum has been replaced. This modified exhaust system weighs more than 3 kg less than the original exhaust, and the larger back pressure drum means that the design pays more attention to the output of medium and low speeds, not exactly on the track of "desperate". In addition, the relatively low noise of the car when passing in the straight road seems to be to balance the balance of the street + track at the same time;

4. The 520 transmission chain of RK is replaced. In terms of specifications, the commercially available version of the GPR250R is also a chain with a 520 specification. And at this level, the "desperate" specification for the championship is the 415 chain and the corresponding front and rear transmission gears;

5. Replaced with hot-soluble competitive tires;

6. Removed the lighting system, rearview mirrors, side tripods and other non-track-necessary devices.

After two quarters of competition, let's take a look at the basic data interpretation of the GPR250R:

1. The schedule of the two races (final one and final two) is 12 laps and 33.84 kilometers. A few veterans of the field, in the wider GIC, maintained the engine close to 9,000 rpm for most of the corners and race time (meaning that the vehicle spent most of its time at 9,000 rpm for more than 20 minutes/30 km). Referring to the second final after running 12 laps, Zhan Junhao's lap speed on lap 2 and lap 11 was less than 0.3 seconds; in the same case, Zhang Xuhao's difference was only 0.01 seconds, and Liang Yuhua's was about 0.6 seconds. The significance of such a comparison is that it can be judged that the engine basically has no thermal attenuation, and can still maintain the initial power level under the peak output state for a long time;

Note: Lap 1 is a warm-up lap, and the lap record is of little reference significance. In the last lap, there are often various "advance celebration" actions before the line is rushed, and it is difficult to reflect the real data. Therefore, the numbers on lap 2 and penultimate round 2 were chosen for comparison.

2. After the whole activity, the fastest lap record is 1 minute 42.013 seconds. The GIC's grand straight road (starting line) is 718 meters long, and the maximum speed of the GPR250R is about 147 km/h (from GPS data records);

3. Combining the above two interpretations, the GPR - RF Replica used for the race, chooses a configuration that takes into account the track experience and daily use, as close as possible to the standard commercially available car - under a reasonable environment, maintained below the 10,500 rpm fire break point, continuous running for 30 kilometers, GPR250R will not have thermal attenuation.

In fact, from the first time I saw the GPR250R and GPR250S, I already vaguely felt the ubiquitous racing elements, and what made people feel particularly strong was not the RSV4's appearance, stout frame, etc., but the two helmet positioning ribs at the front of the fuel tank - this is specially reserved for the driver to bury the entire head in the front windshield when entering the big straight, in order to break the current (to break the resistance caused by the oncoming air current).

How important is it to hide your entire head in the front windshield when on a straight? I believe that the contestants who have had a close combat time in the competition are clear in their hearts.

In addition, as with the GPR150 seen in some previous races and events, even if there are frequent crashes, the GPR - RF Replica can always be quickly repaired and returned to the field. In addition to the efforts of the maintenance team, it also reflects that GPR - RF Replica is not only "resistant to maneuvering", but also very resistant to falling.
