Recently, the Nansha Branch of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment issued the "Preliminary Investigation Report on the Soil Pollution Status of the Zifu Ancient Temple Reconstruction Project (Phase I) in Nansha District before the Filing Publicity".
According to the announcement, the project is located on the northwest side of the Baihuitian Reservoir on Nansha Street, covering an area of 10,379 square meters, and the target plot has been used as a forest in Huangshan Lu Park for planting lychees, longans, peach trees, etc.
Historically, it has been under the jurisdiction of Hongling Community, Nansha Street, Nansha District, and Huangshan Lu Park, and will be used by Zifu Ancient Temple, Nansha District, Guangzhou City in 2023, and the soil environment of the plot meets the requirements for the redevelopment and utilization of the first type of land.
According to the records of "Guangzhou City Chronicles" and "Panyu County Chronicles", "Zifu Temple" Liang Datong (535-545 years), by the Buddhist monk Zhuo Xi built the temple, which is an important historical witness of the Maritime Silk Road, and is as famous as the "Big Buddha Temple" in Guangzhou and the "Haiyun Temple" in Panyu in history.
On November 16, 2015, with the approval of the Guangzhou Municipal Religious Affairs Bureau, the Guangzhou Buddhist Association prepared to build Zifu Ancient Temple in Nansha District, and the owner of the reconstruction was "Zifu Ancient Temple in Nansha District".
In 2018, the official WeChat account of Guangzhou Zhongda Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute released the news of "Planning and Design of Zifu Ancient Temple in Nansha, Guangzhou: Conceptual Planning and Design Successfully Passed the Review".

In November last year, the Nansha Planning and Self-Administration Bureau announced the proposed application for permanent use of forest land for the Zifu Ancient Temple construction project.
In April this year, the temporary person in charge of the Party Working Committee of Gangwan Street led the team members to the preparatory office of Zifu Ancient Temple to learn about the history of Zifu Ancient Temple and the progress of project construction.
The investigation of soil pollution status and the assessment of soil pollution risk are generally used as the precursor to the construction of the project. It is believed that Zifu Ancient Temple will start construction as soon as this year.
Huangshan Lu, where the ancient temple is located, covers an area of about 1,200 hectares and is a well-known ecological scenic spot in Nansha. The image of the park is positioned as "the new business card of urban leisure and the first peak of the Bay Area".
The newly built ancient temple may become a check-in point like Tianhou Temple from the renderings, so the combination of the two will form a 1+1>2 effect, the ancient temple in the deep mountains, and the fairyland in the mountains, attracting more tourists to go and activating the vitality of Nansha cultural tourism.
